Bad things will happen if you pin your team's playoff hopes on the arm of Carlos Marmol.

Actually, that's not entirely fair. He's been very good since he got the closer role back. But still.

I'm still looking forward to his trying to close games for somebody else.

Meh. He's fallen so much in my eyes since 2008, but he's one of the team's lesser problems right now. If Theo can take Marmol's somewhat reasonable contract and improved performance since May and flip it for something this off-season, sure, go ahead. But at this point, Marmol has entered Soriano "who's gives a ####?" territory for me. He's not blocking anyone and isn't really hamstringing the team at this juncture.

Today, Sept. 22, the Dodgers are officially toast for the 2012 playoffs. This just over a month after leading the NL West and adding Hanley/A-Gon/Victorino/Beckett for the stretch run. It's been a wretched month.

Wasn't the Gonzalez, Beckett, Crawford, Punto trade supposed to be a go-for-it-now trade?

Yes. Yes, it was.

The Dodgers goed for it. The faileded.

Giants are pouring it on the Padres right now. Maybe the Dodgers shoulda gone after Scutaro when he was available, he's been a pleasant surprise for the Giants.

Hard as it is to believe, Scutaro is now second in hits in the NL, behind only McCutchen.

With 177 hits, and 15 games remaining. This seems really low.

180 hits, and ten games to go, yes it is low.

Dodgers would be super depressing if I thought about it at all.

Then again, this is exactly where I expected them to be at the beginning of the year. Even with their hot start I still expected this to happen. So maybe it's not that the team is super depressing, what's super depressing is that they couldn't even surprise me, just a little bit.

Also, Adrian Gonzalez is an asshole. He hits like an asshole, he plays an asshole first base. He has an asshole face.

It's sad how the Pirates collapsed like a black hole. I was really hoping that they could have a winning record, but it's almost certainly not going to happen.

Also, Adrian Gonzalez is an #######. He hits like an #######, he plays an ####### first base. He has an ####### face.

With Teixiera in the same reality, I just don't see it.
