NOW he goes to Narveson....

Easily the dumbest approach in Brewer histoey

Harvey's ... my Grandmother is turning over in her grave.

I want to fly to Milwaukee and start punching cocksuckers!
   105. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:38 AM (#3965467)
Narveson pitched last night - what's his cap? He won't go more than like 2 or 3 innings, right?

I ask because the Cards cannot hit him for some reason. Also because Punto is working him this AB.
   106. asdf1234 Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:40 AM (#3965468)
Chris Narveson, replacement-level superstar vs. STL.

Blowout elimination games are unfun

WTF, Furcal? Lord.

   110. asdf1234 Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3965472)
Well, never you mind. Furcal is working hard for a new multi-year deal.

Chris Narveson, replacement-level superstar vs. STL.

Well, that was half-right.
   112. musial6 Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3965475)
It's becoming a recurring theme that you can scr&w around for 4.5 months, get hot and win a ring or at least get to the Series

1973 called, it wants its purist moaning back...

I agree it sucks, but that ship sailed a long time ago.
   113. franoscar Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3965476)
Well, one Card can.
   114. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3965477)
A HR every half inning! Who said NL baseball was boring?
   115. AJM Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:41 AM (#3965478)
Furcal hit that pretty good.

Can hear Cards laughing it's that morose in stands
   118. Gold Star - just Gold Star Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:42 AM (#3965481)
Weird swing by Furcal.
   119. Tripon Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:43 AM (#3965482)
This is ridiculous. The Brewers couldn't have anyone else start tonight?
   120. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:43 AM (#3965483)
Looked inside to me but Harveys has placed a moratorium on my strike zone comments.
   121. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:43 AM (#3965484)
This is ridiculous. The Brewers couldn't have anyone else start tonight?

That MAY have come up at some point in the last week.
   122. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:46 AM (#3965485)
Geez Guts, are you TLR jr with the whining about not being allowed to whine?

Your team is going to the WS

Jes$s. Enjoy it

Homers for everyone!
   124. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:46 AM (#3965487)
Ok, Jackson, please stop doing that.
   125. RETARDO is "Captain Swing"! Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:46 AM (#3965488)
Man this sucks. Wish Brew Crew were still in the AL so I could root for them til the WS. Good team, good fans. Sorry Harveys.

Still a game.
   128. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:47 AM (#3965492)
Your team is going to the WS

Yeah, let's not get too confidant about that quite yet.
   129. asdf1234 Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:47 AM (#3965493)
Wait, Harvey's is posting from the game? That's dedication.

Maybe Narveson only posts a 150 ERA+ against hitters who were in the system when he was with the Cardinals.

Jackson blows. This needs to be another bullpen game if the tying run comes to the plate at any point.
   130. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:48 AM (#3965495)
So Hart and Weeks stink for 5 games and NOW they hit?
   131. Gold Star - just Gold Star Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:49 AM (#3965497)
THAT'S when you slide into first.

I think my response would be "The only place I'll throw it is at your face, now leave me the fck alone, duchebag."

Man this sucks. Wish Brew Crew were still in the AL so I could root for them til the WS. Good team, good fans. Sorry Harveys.

I approve of this reverse jinx.

Oh why do people ever do that? Ever, sorry MCoA, ever?

Larry, this is what happens when you throw a shoulder block at the first-base bag.

   138. RETARDO is "Captain Swing"! Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:50 AM (#3965504)
I mean, any fan base that hates the Cubs is obviously good people.

Hairston knocked the wind out of himself.
   139. RB in NYC (Now Semi-Retired from BBTF) Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:50 AM (#3965505)
I suppose it is Michael Kay ironic that people slide for no reason all the time to no ill-effect, and Hairston does it on a play when there's some cause and he hurts himself.
   140. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:55 AM (#3965508)

Okay, this game could still be good.
   147. The District Attorney Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:56 AM (#3965516)
This could, of course, all end up just making starting Marcum look even worse.
   148. BourbonSamurai, vassal of the Harpsburg Empire Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:56 AM (#3965517)
now we got a game! nice

   151. Tripon Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:56 AM (#3965521)
Lets score all the runs by homers today!
   152. JE (Jason Epstein) Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:57 AM (#3965522)
Jeez, how many home runs would Nelson Cruz hit in this joint over four games?
   153. cardsfanboy Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:57 AM (#3965523)
At least McGhee isn't hitting all these homeruns...
   154. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:57 AM (#3965524)
That was just absurdly bad. Jackson on the verge of blowing the entire season.
   155. Good cripple hitter Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3965525)
This could, of course, all end up just making starting Marcum look even worse.

That thought crossed my mind, but I didn't want to post it because it'd be a cruel way to lose this game/series.
   156. AJM Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3965526)
Things are going better.
   157. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3965527)
Fan got a bog laugh by screaming to Ron that he will lose his bet since Marcum cannot go back in
   158. Tony S Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3965528)
So, will there be any pitchers available tomorrow if the Brewers pull out this one?
   159. Lassus Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:58 AM (#3965529)
Nice swing from Narveson there on that foul.
   160. franoscar Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:59 AM (#3965530)
Throw like WHAT girl? What century do we live in?
I don't know who this guy is on the Brewers radio station but I wish I was listening to Dan Dickerson!
   161. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 12:59 AM (#3965531)
Hopefully Harveys stops complaining about the Crew swinging for the fences now...

If they ever make The Corey Hart Story the guy who plays Thor is a lock for the lead role.
   163. The District Attorney Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:01 AM (#3965533)
I don't know who this guy is on the Brewers radio station
Bob Uecker??

(Who, BTW, just called the Texas Rangers "Washington." That's how you know you follow baseball closely, AND you're old.)
   164. Tony S Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:02 AM (#3965534)
That ball drops ten feet in front of last year's Berkman.
   165. Tripon Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:03 AM (#3965535)
Man, the Rangers might sweep either team at this rate, both NL teams just have no pitching.
   166. The John Wetland Memorial Death (CoB) Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:04 AM (#3965536)
Hopefully Harveys stops complaining about the Crew swinging for the fences now...

Heh.

If you stop complaining about the strike zone, does that mean the two of you will go and get a room?

;-)
   167. asdf1234 Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:04 AM (#3965537)
Do you try to squeeze Jackson past the middle of the order before pinch hitting for him?
   168. greenback Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:05 AM (#3965538)
Man, the Rangers might sweep either team at this rate, both NL teams just have no pitching.

The Rangers just gave up 13 homers in 6 games.

Wow

   174. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:07 AM (#3965544)
WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THESE HOMERS?!?!?

I mean, I guess I'm not complaining.
   175. AJM Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:07 AM (#3965545)
This is crazy.
   176. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:07 AM (#3965546)

   182. base ball chick Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:08 AM (#3965552)
another *(%! home?? this looks like batting practice

and i would REALLY like to see someone grill roenicke about marcum. this is worse than phil garner playing a completely cooked bagwell in the 05 WS - at least he had orders from the owners as HIS excuse
   183. RETARDO is "Captain Swing"! Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:09 AM (#3965553)

   187. asdf1234 Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:10 AM (#3965557)
The first 2+ innings of this game perfectly encapsulate the 2011 Cardinal season. Joy, rage, and disgust fused into an unholy emotion heretofore unknown.

That blown call at home looms large right now.
   188. The John Wetland Memorial Death (CoB) Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:11 AM (#3965558)
Wow.

Come on, That's hardly a blown call---even on the replay you can't tell: did his foot ever actually come down on home plate?
   192. franoscar Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:13 AM (#3965562)

   193. Rafael Bellylard: Built like a Fielder Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:14 AM (#3965563)
I thought his foot was over the plate...you could see the elevation change a bit after the tag. I think it was a good call.
   194. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:15 AM (#3965564)
Crazy hot
   195. salvomania Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:15 AM (#3965565)
Hmmm. if Punto fails here, do you pinch-hit for Jackson with 2 on, 2 out, and throw it to the bullpen for 7 innings???
   196. Guts Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:15 AM (#3965566)
Freese is locked in. Would have preferred to continue the homer parade, though.

Punto with the bases loaded...would TLR suicide squeeze in this game? Frighteningly, he probably would.
   197. Tony S Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:16 AM (#3965567)
Roenicke intentionally walking Yadier Molina? And being PRAISED for it from the booth? Ugh.
   198. RETARDO is "Captain Swing"! Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:16 AM (#3965568)

Yes. If you win, you have a few days off before the WS starts. And maybe you can find someone who can go 3 good innings.
   200. asdf1234 Posted: October 17, 2011 at 01:17 AM (#3965570)
Salvo--I'm going on the posts of fellow Cardinal/Brewer fans who swore that he was safe. I can't see the replay while watching MLBtv.

Chris Narveson sure picked a bad time to stop being Glavine 2.0 against us.

You have to hit for Jackson. Pretty please.

Edit: Thank you.
