That's a hit more than half the time.

Stop torturing me.

If I were at SS there, I think I have a non-zero chance of catching that ball

Are you 7-feet tall?
   203. cardsfanboy Posted: October 22, 2012 at 08:53 PM (#4279547)
With Molina as the catcher, and the high stakes, right now I wouldn't worry too much about the runner going.

No. I said non-zero, not "I would totally have caught that."

EDIT: horrible pitch by Lohse. Birds just don't have room for those kinds of mistakes..

Any other opponent except the Cardinals and I'm rooting for the Giants.

I wish I could enjoy their successes, because I like the city, the team, the fans, and their TV broadcasters, but I have Cardinal blood running through my veins (congenital).

I think this has been McCarver's best series in awhile.

I'm in the vast minority, but I have very fond memories of McCarver calling games on WWOR back in the 80's back when their superstation blasted games all over the midwest. I learned a lot of baseball watching those Mets games. He's not good today, but I do get a little bit of nostalgia listening to him, if nothing else.

I don't know if I'm there, it really would depend on the opponent I guess. (My rule is 1. Cardinals 2. NL Central team 3. other NL preferences but not Mess/Marlins. 4. whoever is left(not Mess/Marlins) then when we get to the world series--Only team that I would put below the Mess is Yankees/Red Sox...both are still ahead of the Marlins though. )

I'm pretty ambivalent but am rooting for the Giants because

a) they won a divison
b) there has never been a Giants/Tigers matchup and we've seen lots of Tigers/Cards
c) Giants are home team
d) that's it, really.

Man on third, two outs again.

I don't even know why they are booing him, he was traded for and only played like a mortal for them? That is the weakest reason to boo someone.

See, that inning is a good example of how good a defender Blanco is.

On the surface, it looked like nothing, but Jay's hit would have been a double with most left fielders. With the same sequence (GB to 2b, FB to RC), Jay would have scored. In addition, that last play could very easily have fallen in as well.

Great defense behind Cain.

They're idiots. Giants fans hate Beltran because he hit poorly immediately after coming over (like .150 for a week month). He got hot when the Giants fell out of it, so his end of season numbers looked good.

Why boo him? He tried hard, was just not seeing the ball great. Now Pence, that guy I'd boo next year.

SCUTARO!!!!! I wonder if Scutaro siphoned off Pence's talent.
   267. Guts Posted: October 22, 2012 at 09:10 PM (#4279624)

My recollection (not double-checked via baseball-reference) is that Beltran slumped pretty bad immediately after the trade, at the same time the Giants fell out of the race. I think he got hotter after the Giants were not much of a factor, making his overall line as a Giant look reasonable. I'm not saying it's anything to boo the guy for, but many casual fans likely stopped paying close attention when Beltran was hot.

(and I'll now go check the numbers to see just how wrong I am...)
