I'm in the vast minority, but I have very fond memories of McCarver calling games on WWOR back in the 80's back when their superstation blasted games all over the midwest. I learned a lot of baseball watching those Mets games. He's not good today, but I do get a little bit of nostalgia listening to him, if nothing else.
I don't know if I'm there, it really would depend on the opponent I guess. (My rule is 1. Cardinals 2. NL Central team 3. other NL preferences but not Mess/Marlins. 4. whoever is left(not Mess/Marlins) then when we get to the world series--Only team that I would put below the Mess is Yankees/Red Sox...both are still ahead of the Marlins though. )

I don't even know why they are booing him, he was traded for and only played like a mortal for them? That is the weakest reason to boo someone.
On the surface, it looked like nothing, but Jay's hit would have been a double with most left fielders. With the same sequence (GB to 2b, FB to RC), Jay would have scored. In addition, that last play could very easily have fallen in as well.

They're idiots. Giants fans hate Beltran because he hit poorly immediately after coming over (like .150 for a
weekmonth). He got hot when the Giants fell out of it, so his end of season numbers looked good.Why boo him? He tried hard, was just not seeing the ball great. Now Pence, that guy I'd boo next year.

My recollection (not double-checked via baseball-reference) is that Beltran slumped pretty bad immediately after the trade, at the same time the Giants fell out of the race. I think he got hotter after the Giants were not much of a factor, making his overall line as a Giant look reasonable. I'm not saying it's anything to boo the guy for, but many casual fans likely stopped paying close attention when Beltran was hot.
(and I'll now go check the numbers to see just how wrong I am...)
