Two TJ surgeries, BTW.

Crew win last night was so awesome. Arcia with the dinger for the lead and then Haderade for the last six outs. Doubt tonight can match that quality

Lester minimized the damage, but gracious, Cubs starting pitching has been awful with pitch counts lately.

Buxton ran into the fence at mach 1 again. I didn't see it, but the radio description portrayed a violent collision. He left the game.

Dan Kolko @masnKolko
Make this 109 times in 509 games. Four straight games with a hit-by-pitch for Victor Robles. On average, that’s a HBP in 21.4 percent of games as a pro.

Did somebody take out a contract on Victor Robles???

five batters into the Yankees' 7th, they are seeing their 4th reliever of the inning.

the 4th guy comes in with the bags loaded and allows all 3 to score - 1 against RP 1, 1 against RP2, 1 against RP3.

What, no Cardinal fan ejaculate in this thread over the Bader to Molina throw and tag, nailing Harper by a millimeter at home?

It was a great play by both. And Harper was flying from second on Hoskins' single.

Barry Svrluga @barrysvrluga
Howie Kendrick and Bryce Harper now have the same number of homers: nine. Kendrick has more homers than Mookie Betts, Eric Hosmer, Kyle Schwarber, Justin Turner, etc.

Don't know that it would have changed anything, but Urshela screwed up on that infield pop-up from Gardner. (unless the C was coming to cover 1st out of camera view)

I can't even watch 'em anymore. They are so bad...from 20-10 to under .500 in three weeks...

Tebow Watch:

Noah Frank @NoahFrankWTOP
(Tebow ranks last in the International League in AVG, OBP and SLG among all qualified hitters. He was the only Chief without a hit in a 16-2 win tonight. He’s batting .154 with 53 Ks in 128 ABs.)

Brewers game still on going, but, as of now Yelich and Dietrich have combined for 38 HR. The 2019 Marlins have 39.

Don't know that it would have changed anything, but Urshela screwed up on that infield pop-up from Gardner. (unless the C was coming to cover 1st out of camera view)

How did he screw up? If he runs to second while the ball's in the air, he's easily doubled up if the Padres don't muff the popup. And if he stays at place, he simply gets forced at second. Unless one of the Padres kicked the ball into the outfield, there was no way the Yanks were going to come out of that play with two on and no outs.
   30. salvomania Posted: May 28, 2019 at 10:21 PM (#5846335)
Tonight, the Cardinals jump out to a 3-0 lead four batters into the game... and then manage two singles the entire rest of the game and lose 4-3. Still, predictable.
   31. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: May 28, 2019 at 10:21 PM (#5846336)
The lowest attendance count in Tampa Bay history was tonight: 5786.

Talk about pearls before swine.

For the 10,000th time, move the Rays to Montreal and move the Marlins to Saudi Arabia. Anything would be an improvement over St. Pete and Miami. Florida should be for the Grapefruit League and nothing else.
   32. salvomania Posted: May 28, 2019 at 10:24 PM (#5846338)
Unless they win the next two vs. the Phillies, the Cardinals will not have won a series in the month of May.
   33. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: May 28, 2019 at 10:27 PM (#5846339)
Angels go with the Opener tonight. Opener gives up a lead-off homer. Figures.
   34. It was something about the man-spider and sodomy, Posted: May 28, 2019 at 10:33 PM (#5846342)
Perhaps I should have phrased it differently. Urshela didn't really "screw up" on that play, but he played it sub-optimally as a base runner. Unless the C was coming from home to cover first (which ought to be the coach's responsibility to monitor), he had at least as far as the first baseman (who was off the bag to start the play AND in front of Gio) to wait to see the outcome of the play (and it became apparent VERY early in the play that there was trouble). As SS, 2nd AND P converged on the ball as it was dropping, the 1st baseman released towards the center of the diamond. At this point, Gio is *not* in danger (again, barring movement from the C , he can just stand there until the play is resolved; if it's caught, he simply retreats to first with ease, but if it drops, he's in as forward a position as he could be to try and force an issue and possibly advance. Instead, when the 1st baseman releases, Gio has already long since started retreating to the bag, so when the ball drops, he has to stop his momentum and then head towards 2nd.

As I stated in the first post, it probably doesn't matter in the end, but maybe, just maybe, if Urshela plays it right, he's on top of 2nd baseman (and in the lane) almost as the ball is dropping, maybe there's interference, maybe that forces something hurried from the defense ... it couldn't have been any worse than the outcome he got.

Nats’ Magic Number @NatsMagicNumber
Since 1900, there have been 6,012 Major League batters with at least 300 plate appearances, including Victor Robles (304). Only two were hit by pitches at a higher frequency than Robles:

Brandon Guyer 17.49
Mike Kinkade 17.54
Victor Robles 21.74

Robles, hold his beer:

05.25... Tim Locastro went 1-for-3 with two RBI and was beaned by Giants pitchers three times on Friday.
Spin: He plated two runs with a single during the Diamondbacks' 18-2 victory but it was the three hit-by-pitches that were notable. It was the first time this year that any player has been hit three times in a game. Jurickson Profar was the last player to accomplish the feat -- he did it twice last year. Locastro has only 29 plate appearances in 2019 and has been beaned seven times already. He got drilled 29 times in 107 games between the majors and minors last year.

After a pretty horrific 2018, Lucas Giolito is finally coming into his own this season. He’s 7-1 with a 0.98 whip and 69K in 60IP.

Could we also take some sort of action against the Dodger Stadium organist? I think capital punishment is probably too harsh, but SHUT THE F*** UP!! JUST FOR ONE BATTER!!

Dylan Floro has wedding dress streamers hanging off his glove. I'm pretty sure that's in violation of some written rule. I'm absolutely certain that Brian McCann is apoplectic over it.
   49. Bote Man Posted: May 29, 2019 at 12:23 AM (#5846371)
Bases loaded with Mets so the Dodgers bring on their secret weapon, Scott Alexander, who looks like James Borque and pitches like him. His 1st pitch is a cookie on the outside half of the plate, turned into a grand slam by Conforto, 6-2 Mets.

Matt ("Six Homers in 20 Games") Olson would like to hear more about how "power" is the skill most likely to be affected by his hamate bone injury. Long home run to center field ties it up, 4-4 against the Angels in the 6th.
   51. Bote Man Posted: May 29, 2019 at 12:52 AM (#5846374)
Robert G. Sellman (sell, man!) allows a run to cross home plate. After 7 innings of play in Chavez Ravine it's 6-3 Mets.

The Mets are making the most of their has-beens and never-wases.

The NL Least is looking like it will shake out as:

Phillies
Mets
Braves
Nationals
Marlins

Based totally on my gut, which contains an amount of beer at this point.
