Noah Syndergaard of New York Mets placed on DL with elbow injury - ESPN New York

Top pitching prospect Noah Syndergaard has been placed on the disabled list and will be dispatched to New York for an examination with team doctors after being diagnosed with a flexor pronator strain in his right elbow.

This news is obviously sub-optimal. It's supposedly a pretty mild injury though. I am going to use this thread to talk about some Met prospects.

Kevin Plawecki has really been raking in AA. He's a 23 year old catcher and his batting line is .336/.371/.507. OPS over 1.000 in April. He's supposed to be solid defensively as well. Not walking a lot but he's not striking out a lot either. He's shown the ability to draw walks in the past as well.

Does anyone know what's going on with Cesar Puello? He's only something like 25 AB in the last two weeks despite being pretty much the only hitting prospect on that team for the Mets.

Brandon Nimmo has been hitting well in A-ball. He has continued in May despite the fact that his BABIP has fallen quite a bit to a still high .375 during the month. Still, a .299/.430/.460 line is pretty good.

Dilson Herrera is also having a nice season, and has been better in May. He does have more errors than you'd like but that could be because he has been playing SS.

Also, the Mets have apparently fired their hitting coach. I'm sure that will fix everything.

Is that Nimmo's May line, Russlan? On the year, he's still .344/.472/.489. That's a bit more ISO than he's shown previously, and he's cut way back on strikeouts while maintaining very very good walk rates. Starting to look like Youklis as a good defensive outfielder, which would be very valuable.

Supposedly not serious. Tommy John will have to wait until July at the earliest.
