N.Y. Post: FARNSWORTH BLAMES TORRE FOR STRUGGLES (RR)

Farnsworth: Comes a non-horse, man.

“I always have confidence in myself. But it’s tough when you do lose the confidence from your manager to maybe prepare yourself, day in and day out when you have no clue about anything,” said Farnsworth, who allowed 108 runners to reach base via hit or walk in 60 innings last season and was 2-1 with a swollen 4.80 ERA in 64 games. “It happened a few times last year.”

...Farnsworth said pitching coach Ron Guidry and Torre hatched the plan that he couldn’t pitch two straight days and told the media; not him.  “They never came up to me and asked me (about working consecutive games),” Farnsworth said. “I don’t know where that came about. I will go up to them (this year) if I’m not able to pitch. That’s up to them, back-to-back days.”

...Having thrown to Girardi with the Cubs, Farnsworth said he likes the vibe created by his former battery mate.

“Definitely, all across the board, communication with the manager, everything,” Farnsworth said when asked if the atmosphere has improved under Girardi. “What they said last year about I couldn’t go back-to-back days, which was news to me, when it was brought to me. I said, ‘What are you guys talking about?’ Communication is key for everything.”

Farnsworth knows how to use multisyllabic words? Who knew?

He is a Profe33or, after all.

I assumed it was a rough translation of a collection of grunts and crotch-thrusts.

It's funny how these things go in cycles. Jeter's D is unmentionable in the MSM, then all of a sudden the dam breaks. Torre is "St. Joe" until it started to crack last year. I expect people to line up to take their shots now.

Good news, everyone!

You know, I blame Joe Torre for the fact that I often have to get up in the middle of the night to take a leak, rather than holding it until morning.

Now if he can only stop the all night partying, and devote some time to his job...

As a Yankee hater, I give my full support to pitching Farnsworth as much as possible.

Torre caused Farnsworth to stop trying in 2002?

Kyle Farnsworth is black?

But it’s tough when you

...have no freaking clue where the ball is going after you release it.

But it’s tough when you

Throw the ball really hard, but really straight and high.

I thought Mormons weren't allowed to be black. Then again, they're not allowed to drink, either.

I know facts can be ugly things, but does anyone have any info on how KF actually does pitching on the second of back-to-back days?

Appearances with 0 days rest:

2007: 5.1 IP, 6.75 ERA
2006: 12.1 IP, 5.11 ERA
2005: 19.2 IP, 0.92 ERA
Career: 107.1 IP:, 4.36 ERA

EDIT: League context
2007: 4.60 ERA
2006: 3.99 ERA
2005: 3.94 ERA

Not sure why it spiked in 2007.

Is there any statistical subset or scenario in which 2007 Farnsworth didn't have a 6.75 ERA? Day games after night games after total eclipses? Against direct descendants of Robespierre? Close and late versus albinos?

Well, there's the entire season, among others.

Re: #21--
The primary intention of my previous post was not rigorous statistical accuracy. I was merely expressing my incredulity that Kyle Farnsworth was able to achieve a 0.00 ERA on any individual pitch that he threw in 2007.

I know, I was just trying to be a smartass.

I feel the same way about post All-Star Break Jason Marquis.
