he needs a better financial adviser for sure.
Really, the article itself presents A-Rod giving far more than 2x what Jeter has given and concludes that A-Rod is the cheapskate.
While Jeter may very well have given more than A-Rod in other ways, Roberts doesn't report it, rendering even the twisted and jaded internal logic of her own story nonsensical.
Seriously. Even if it works financially, it's a potential PR disaster.
This is the first thing I thought when I started reading the article. (And the only objective comment made in the article) It just doesn't make sense. Managing low income housing is a major pain in the ass. It may not sound nice, but it's true. Unless he intended to actually try to help people by providing better services, maintenance, and more lenient policies than the industry norms, he truly is in a no win situation.
Yeah, it's really bizarre...didn't someone in the editorial office ask this along the way? I mean, I enjoy ripping on ARod at least as much as the next person but at some point we have to do a reality check on it.
So let's focus on his smarmy Game 4 announcement instead!
Oh, I can see it spun that he's improving affordable housing, making sure people get a decent place to live, etc., while also making money. You know, win win. But it's largely how you spin it.
I mean, the article ain't complaining about the housing projects being slums or ill kept, just people complain about late fees. Ok, don't be late with the rent?
Your generous and charitable spirit is more timely than ever in this Christmas season.
Derek has tirelessly donated to wayward young girls, 9cc at a time.
The benefit Arod would get from deciding to charge tenants an extra $50 per month of overdue rent is so minuscule that it's laughable to think it was actually his decision to do so. Sounds like his wife's brother is being a slumlord as slumlords often do.
I mean, hell, you work two jobs, get the flu, miss a day, they dock you, so you're late with the rent money to Massa Alex...
I'm with you guys--jack up these working class chumps for every f*cking dime you can squeeze out of their loser asses. Charge a hundred bucks when the seven hundred dollar rent is late by a week. That's, what, an annualized return of over 700%? F*uck 'em. If they were real people, they'd have real bank accounts.
Bingo. Though for A-Rod, I wonder if this is worth it at any level.
