Odds against Bill King for Frick Award

“The Baseball Hall of Fame issued its latest list of candidates for the Ford Frick Award, which is a plaque that has a bunch of baseball broadcasters’ names on it, and two things stick out.

Bill King, the longtime Oakland A’s voice, is on the list of 41, which will eventually be whittled to three by that bane of our existence, internet voting.”

Ratto being Ratto once again.

Bill King ftw. One of the greatest sports broadcasters of all time.

Hasn't Bill King done well in the internet voting in the past? I thought that he and Tom Cheek had each been selected by the fans several times only to be rejected by the final committee.

The internet? That thing's full of jerks!

I was never a fan of the A's, or any East Bay team but Bill King was worth tuning in to listen to even in basketball, a sport I dislike a great deal.

Bill King is too ####### good for this award. Go ahead and give it to Jack Buck, baseball establishment, you know you're going to eventually anyway.

Good lord, I hope they already did.

Good lord, I hope they already did.

D'oh! I meant, of course, his offspring.

Like Buddha, Bill King is never disappointed, only interested.

If John Sterling gets the honor before Bill King -- hell, if John Sterling ever wins the award at all -- I demand a congressional investigation.
