Omaha.com: Rosenblatt Stadium is coming down

Meet your new zoo parking lot.

The Omaha Zoo Foundation has contracted with Anderson Excavating of Omaha for demolition services at the 64-year-old structure. The demolition project is expected to take up to six months to complete.

“There have been a lot of questions about when it would come down,” said Calvin Sisson, executive director of the Omaha Zoo Foundation. “We’re at a point where we could begin, and Anderson said it was ready to go in earnest.”

"paved paradise, put up a parking lot"....goodbye Rosenblatt, I enjoyed my time there in 1982 and in 1983.

I don't know if they actually need more parking, but the Omaha Zoo is ######## excellent, as zoos go.

I live in Omaha and had a chance to go to Rosenblatt one last time this past June. All the seats were removed and the field was mostly dirt and weeds. I was lucky enough to grab a bag full of "Rosenblatt dirt"

My father played various levels of football and baseball at Rosenblatt during the 1950s and early 60s, he misses it. I loved it for the CWS visits in the 80s/90s/00s. South Omaha has changed a lot since I first spent time there 30 years ago, never mind in the 98 years since my Grandfather was born in a barn like structure in the same neighborhood
