Omnichatter 4-22-2013

Today, we will discuss games like A’s vs. Red Sox, Cards vs. Nats, Jays vs. O’s, Yankees vs. Rays, D-Backs vs. Giants and, perhaps best of all (going by record), Braves vs. Rockies.

Or we might just discuss Doctor Who, whether feathered dinosaurs look cool or stupid, and whether a Oriole could beat a Blue Jay in a actual fight… because BBTF is WEIRD.

Greedy to put Marmol back out for another inning.

And ugh, we're gonna get to hear Thom Brennaman call this.
   202. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:28 PM (#4422882)
Way to go, Barney.
   203. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:29 PM (#4422883)
Man, pick your poison. Votto up with a base open but Marmol is pitching, so it's not a no-brainer.
   204. Bote Man makes baseball fun again Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:29 PM (#4422884)
Wow, if not for the blue uniforms I would've thought I were watching the Nats "defense" botch play after play.
   205. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:31 PM (#4422885)
That passive Votto!
   206. fran Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:31 PM (#4422886)
Marmol is a great pitcher!
   207. Dan Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:32 PM (#4422887)
That was a filthy slider to K Votto. Great tilt.
   208. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:32 PM (#4422888)
Marmol actually looked somewhat sharp tonight, I can't deny that.
   209. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:33 PM (#4422889)
tiny BARNEY feeling !
   210. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:37 PM (#4422893)
Good inning by Blanton. Only one run allowed.
   211. Honkie Kong Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:45 PM (#4422898)
Good inning by Blanton. Only one run allowed.

I am sorry, I laughed!
Can't be fun to watch Blanton and Hanson take the ball every 5th day.
   212. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:47 PM (#4422901)
It stinks to look at the day's starters (Blanton v. Holland) and know your guys have no chance.
   213. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 10:58 PM (#4422907)
Starlin Castro is total ass with the bases loaded.
   214. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:00 PM (#4422914)
And now Kevin Gregg. That's it for this one.
   215. Meatwad Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:05 PM (#4422920)
2 inninngs no runs and only 2 walks? trade marmol now!
   216. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:10 PM (#4422926)
So apparently Dale Sveum was quoted recently as saying that if a player doesn't perform, he's not immune to being sent down to Triple-A to figure things out. He also said something about it being important to play "500 games" in the minors. MLB Tonight crew is taking this as a subtle swipe against Castro and Rizzo.
   217. Dan Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:14 PM (#4422932)
Rizzo increasingly seems like the next Adam Dunn.
   218. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:21 PM (#4422936)
Howie Kendrick!
   219. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:29 PM (#4422939)
lol Luis Valbuena of all people.
   220. Meatwad Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:35 PM (#4422945)
at least someone finally did it
   221. Dan Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:41 PM (#4422947)
The Cubs always keep it interesting
   222. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:43 PM (#4422948)
Of course. I can't believe they didn't just put him on.
   223. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:43 PM (#4422949)
Also, Dave Sappelt is a ####### idiot for trying to catch that.
   224. Kiko Sakata Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:44 PM (#4422950)
MLB Tonight crew is taking this as a subtle swipe against Castro and Rizzo.

The Chicago Tribune article about this little tirade by Sveum is titled "Sveum threatens to demote Castro, Rizzo", although there doesn't appear to be a quote where he names either of them by name in the article.
   225. hokieneer Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:44 PM (#4422951)
#207, I've never figured out why votto struggles so much against marmol. You'd think it would be a perfect matchup for a guy that walks as much as votto.

Bruce!!
   226. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:45 PM (#4422952)
So, walk-off balk?
   227. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:46 PM (#4422957)
Cesar f'n Izturis.

Oh, Cubs.
   228. Meatwad Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:47 PM (#4422958)
and old yeller will not be returning from the back yard...
   229. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:50 PM (#4422960)
It's a shame the pen and offense are so awful, because the starting pitching has actually been serviceable.
   230. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: April 22, 2013 at 11:56 PM (#4422965)
Oh no, Lohse. left game, hand injury.
   231. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: April 23, 2013 at 12:02 AM (#4422969)
YES! IANNETTA!
   232. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: April 23, 2013 at 12:21 AM (#4422971)
Joe Blanton, 6+ IP, 12 hits, 3 runs. If Roth strands his runner, Blanton can chalk up his first "quality start" of the season.

EDIT: The pen just loaded the bases with nobody out, so Blanton's not gonna get his quality start.
   233. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: April 23, 2013 at 12:28 AM (#4422974)
So Lohse dislocated his non-throwing hand pinkie while running out a fielder's choice. caught the 1B backside or back.
   234. Honkie Kong Posted: April 23, 2013 at 12:33 AM (#4422975)
The Angels have a terrifying offense, and terrifying pitching. The latter terrifying being used in its most pejorative sense.
   235. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: April 23, 2013 at 12:34 AM (#4422976)
Good bye, lead. Good bye, game.

I can't bear to watch.
