Brian Sabean must be partaking of some reeeeeeally good medical 4:20 out there. Or he has a magic potion that will make Uggla transform into a useful player.

Doesn't sound like the worst idea ever. The Giants are already getting nothing out of 2nd base, so why not take a chance? Worst thing that happens, you get more of the same. And if Uggla finds even a shred of what he had in Miami, then that's a pretty nice bump for nothing at all.

What does he call the thing on the ground by his door?

I suppose invading Russia in the winter is a slightly worse idea, but only if Dan Uggla is your quartermaster.

When is Scutaro due back?

Brandon Hicks looks like a Three True Outcomes kind of guy with 0.4 bWAR and 73 OPS+ this season in 71 games and 242 plate appearances. He has 8 HR, 32 BB, and 77 K in that time.

Dan Uggla has -1.0 bWAR and 33 OPS+ this season in 48 games and 145 PA and trending down over the last few seasons. Danny has 2 HR, 10 BB, and 40 K in that time.

Enjoy!

Maybe he voluntarily came off the bag and was tagged out.

Ben Paulsen is an emergency call-up to replace Justin Morneau (on the DL with some sort of neck thing). 26 yr old 1B, singled to the opposite field in his 1st MLB AB. He'll probably be the Rockies player-of-the-week for that.

after originally getting it right, the scorer at Coors gave Lemahieu a double on a routine popop which Espinosa dropped.

Scutaro is playing back to back games for the first time this season. I think the Giants are looking at him as strictly a guy to start against the occasional tough LHP/come off the bench guy - his back probably won't allow for much more.

Hicks was designated, but did accept a minor league assignment, so is still in the Giants system. He at least looked reasonable on defense, but his bat was getting worse as the season wore on and teams got the book on him. OPS in April of .851, May .549, June .446

Still, no reason to sign Uggla when you have a reasonable facsimile already in your system.

Sacrilege! I'll have you know that Matty penciled in Espinosa for his defense, plus he bats righty against the LHP Morales.

But seriously, folks, I don't know why the scorer changed that, it was an error all the way. In other news, I'm seeing first-hand why the Rockies aren't doing so well in the standings. They remind me if the Natinals circa 2008. YIKES!

The solution to fixing the incessant crashing of Shockwave on mlb.tv was switching to IE from Chrome. I feel so unclean using IE...does anybody have a solid fix (trying previous versions didn't work) that will avoid me using IE for anything, as is the way it should be?

Garrett Jones gets a big clutch hit for the Marlins to make it 3-1 over the Rednecks in the 10th.

Pretty horrible belly-flop/faceplant slide for CarGo in the 6th inning. He might have hurt a hand or wrist.

Corey Hart is pushing the Molinas for slowest MLB-playing human these days. Tejada has about a half-hour to dribble a roller up the middle at deep SS and fire to first. A good recovery, but damn the dude is slow these days. It's kinda hard to watch.

#18 - I'm still running XP on my main desktop (hush!) and Chrome was causing it to blue screen so I just ripped it out. Further research revealed that my video driver is earlier than Chrome claims to support, if you can believe that. Plus, there were a bunch of "experimental" settings under the hood of Chrome that I could have disabled if I actually cared.

I'm building a new machine and will revisit Chrome then, but you might want to investigate those settings. I think they are accessed via about:config but a quick Google search should reveal that stuff. They are definitely pushing the envelope a bit. Plus Flash is roundly criticized by the developers that I hang with; too bad we're a captive audience for it.

The continued slow-motion trainwreck that is Justin Verlander continues. What on earth happened to him?
   25. frannyzoo Posted: July 21, 2014 at 11:01 PM (#4755538)
Thanks Boteman. I've never felt comfortable worshiping the Google alter, either, which reminds me I should get Firefox on this new laptop of mine. I'll try it on that and, if it works, feel morally cleaner all around. I can only imagine the gap between what the Internet could be and is based on my limited interactions with Adobe and a few other venal outfits dominated market share.

But hey, a Mariner hit a home run...all is well!

Too much Kate Upton wearing him out maybe?

Hicks is batting .140/.253/.238 with 3 HR and 21:53 BB:K in 167 PA since the end of April. Selective endpoints, but still.

edit: Or, pretty much what #16 said.

Hey, whaddayaknow?! The idiot director in the MASN truck finally had a reason to show the fake rocks and waterfalls in CF at the Big A because Adam Jones hit a home run out there. At least we got to see that part of the play; we're so lucky!!

We might get even luckier still and glimpse some other actual baseball plays in between marveling at the exquisite rock sculpture with its intricate layout and many babbling brooks cascading down. A true work of art that should always upstage the game!

Joe Thatcher with the prototypical LOOGY appearance: the lefty came on to face lefty batting Chris Davis, threw the first pitch, Davis turned away to let it hit him squarely in the back. Thatcher gone from the game. I guess that makes him a LOPGY.

I'd rather watch in Oakland. (Obvious bias but still I've seen games in both stadiums)
