his record is 5-4 in 19 starts
Is it possible to overlay that with the corresponding Red Sox games thus far and see if he was pitching for the Sox would his record be like 15-1 or something?
Lindor fly out, Guyer down swinging, EGonzalez single and WP, then RPerez also Ks swinging.
that's... unusual
he tells the announcer, "this is cool!" to get his first walkoff HR
then first thing he does, with a toothy grin, is he thanks the fans still left in the stands for sticking around
MLB agents are out there thinking, "how do I get my superstar client to fake what - on this guy - is an utter lack of guile/cynicism? imagine the endorsements we could get!"
That "record" might be in jeopardy tonight!
LOL
and it was Sal Bando, Jim Gantner, and Buck Martinez
no one who just got a cup of coffee in the bigs
1. Pitchers look into their hats for intel on batters.
2. Position players pitch.
3. Schwarber and Adams bunt for basehits against the shift.
It would have to make it past the focus groups and legal department before being approved.
Why? The nice thing about having a position player pitch multiple innings is that you don't have to pinch-hit for him.
He's the first pitcher to homer off a position player since Mike LaCoss hit one off of Dane Iorg in 1986.
Will Avila race to the plate to catch his own pitches???
I know some of you here don't really agree with this type of stuff(position players pitching, etc), but for me baseball is still just a game largely played by enormously talented, overgrown kids(and I think a lot of the younger guys are still think like kids anyway) and at times, it should be fun. The season is long and arduous and this year in the AL, it really is the haves and have nots, so if players get a chance to do something kind of silly sometimes, then I think that's ok.
I was really hoping there be 2 teams get 20 today, that would've been kind of cool.
Is Jose Ramirez just the most awesome player no one outside of Cleveland and inner circle fandom that no one has ever heard of? This cat is just heaps fun to watch.
