Just my luck. Flying up to Seattle, and getting to watch the Angels on the road, and Ricky Nolasco's pitching.

I KNOW HOW THE ANGELS WILL LOSE TODAY!

Rally cat has been caught by animal control, but because he/she/it bit someone, it has a required 10 days of quarantine. By the time it's out, Busch stadium will probably have a nice home set up for it.

Not a fan of southern fried chicken?

Or halfway decent country songs?

Not a fan of pitchers with fat contracts and 5.11 ERAs. The only consolation Yankees fans had with Kenny Rogers was that 6.07 ERA he posted against them.

Wheeew, Yankees playing the old *Awesome* vs. *Oh what crap* game again.
And Garcia gets out of the bases loaded jam in the 3rd. Nicely done ? Lucky ?
He just looks absolutely hittable, unless your name is Chris Young.

Let's get some runs, Cubbies Yankees !

I hate to say it, but Judge has gotten to the point where he's just a black hole in the lineup. He needs a major, major reboot in his whole approach to hitting.
   9. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 11, 2017 at 08:32 PM (#5511615)
Judge should basehit bunt more.
But seriously, yes. He reminds me of Hunter Pence, who gets fed 85% sliders outside and doesn't, well, he can't with his technique, adapt. I hope Judge can somehow adapt, ergo cheat a little bit in the box to smack those outside balls into the right field seats. At this point though, he DOES seem black-hole-ish in my opinion too.
Same same with him, no clear sign he even does anything differently. Sad.
   10. cardsfanboy Posted: August 11, 2017 at 08:38 PM (#5511616)
I don't ever remember seeing Swanson play before, based upon just that one play(man on first, no outs, ball hit to the second baseman, out at second and Swanson's transfer to almost get the double play)....he looks to be a good fielder...fantastic transfer there....and then Albies(Braves second baseman makes a nice diving stop and then has the maturity to not rush the play and get the out.)
   11. cardsfanboy Posted: August 11, 2017 at 08:40 PM (#5511617)
Fowler with his 8th consecutive game with a walk, not a big record, but a point of interest if you are a fan of the team. (and yes, you know I'm going to pi to see other streaks like that)

Kurt Suzuki, my old friend. I always liked him. Didn't even know he hired on the stinkin' Barves.

Thing is, he got loads of low-outside sliders last year and the 1st-half of this season.

He was just laying off them, or taking them to RF.

Right now, he just looks like he's trying to pull too many pitches ...

These are going to be a long 10 days, aren't they.

Great job, Failsbury ...

Back from PI, just did 2010's and Brian Dozier(2014) has a 12 game streak with at least one walk, David Wright(2016) has 11, and a few (Trout x2, Granderson x2, Votto x2, ---along with Harper, Gardner, Ortiz and a few others have done it 10 times this decade).....

looking up the all time, I'm assuming Williams will top the list. ....or Bonds

Pre 1950 someone named Roy Cullenbine did it 22 games in a row(Williams 19)
Post 1950, Williams had 14, Darrell Evans 15, Willie Randolph 17, Toby Harrah 16, Jack Clark twice 14.... Chipper 16, Dykstra 15, Bonds 19, 17, 15, 14, (the 2000's leaderboard is Bonds, Abreu and Nick Johnson)
   16. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 11, 2017 at 08:50 PM (#5511623)
Ok, Garcia needs to go NOW. Anything above 3 or 4:0 isn't going to work vs. the Red Sucks.
He kept us in, but now he can only hurt us more. Out !! Please !!!

Come on Joe, he missed the friggin strikezone by 8 feet ! Take him out !
   17. cardsfanboy Posted: August 11, 2017 at 08:52 PM (#5511624)
(yes I'm sure nobody cares, but these type of things that the announcers mention, are things I like to look into, and it's why I like good announcers, they bring up interesting tidbits---and even crappy announcers like the Cardinals also do that...for the record if I'm being 100% honest, outside of McCarver, all the Cardinal announcers are perfectly cromulent, they are just annoying frequently enough)

Now I'm worried..... The Cardinals have a 2-0 lead in the second inning...during this six game winning streak, they have come from behind in 5 of the 6 games.... I don't want the Braves to come back period..... I want the team to pile on, but sometimes you fear superstition(and the one game that they didn't come from behind, they scored a run, the other team scored a run to tie it... )
   23. cardsfanboy Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:02 PM (#5511635)
Make that 3-0
   24. Chip Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:03 PM (#5511636)
Cone's memory of who Andrew Miller was circa '14 when the Sox traded him for E-Rod is seriously deficient.

just because I want to....

Cardinals hitters the last 7 days.

This has been my complaint about Jon Miller, is that he wasn't the one saying the stupid isht, but he was leading Joe Morgan into those comments, it's hard for me to accept a guy as a great announcer, if he's intentionally fouling up the broadcast.

I thought that was already known, but that it was unlikely he would be going anywhere.
   33. cardsfanboy Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:17 PM (#5511648)
Bases loaded no outs...... one run scored... I'm perfectly fine with that. Cardinals up 4-1.
   34. Infinite Yost (Voxter) Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:20 PM (#5511650)
In looking at his BR page, I just realized that the Diamondbacks drafted Kinsler twice (2000 and 2001, 29th & 26th rounds) before the Rangers got him in the 17th round (2003).

Anyway, Kinsler may finally be in decline, but he has a cheap option for next year. He might cost more than people want to give up.

Matt Carpenter is a better defender as a first baseman than many people give him credit for...he's plus there and that play is another in a long line of evidence to support that, it's that he's below average at second that hurts his defensive rep.
   39. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:23 PM (#5511655)
Ok, another inning, another chance for Aaron 'Superhero' 'Super Blackhole' Judge.
Let's see, if he tries to pull too much.

Go Bombers !
   40. cardsfanboy Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5511656)
Grichuk with a triple, Matt Adams is just slow, but why in the hell is he in left..he didn't misplay it at all, he just took forever to get there.
   41. cardsfanboy Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:27 PM (#5511657)
Wainwright with a blooper to right that for some reason wasn't caught and a single, to give the Cardinals a six to one lead in the 3rd inning.

In this case, Kay indeed said stupid ####. ""The Red Sox gave up a lot to get him," he says about E-Rod.

Umm, no, oh braindead homer, they were a last-place team at the time. At the deadline in '14 they traded Miller, a quality reliever in the last two months of his walk year for perhaps the most-prized lefty starter prospect in baseball at the time.
   43. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:29 PM (#5511659)

No runs, 2 hits. Can't get worse at this point.
   46. Chip Posted: August 11, 2017 at 09:40 PM (#5511664)
Just to add: since the trade, for the perhaps 20 innings of work they might have gotten from Miller in a losing season before his free agency, they've gotten 300+ IP of 105 ERA+ from a kid who doesn't turn 25 until next April.

Cone meanwhile was under the impression thst Miller was still a failed starter at the time, not the bullpen ace he had become the previous three years in BOS, including being a key part of the bullpen for a WS winner the previous year.

At the baseball writers dinner (2015) Worrell was sat next to Denkinger for the dinner and got to talk with him, when it came time to talk about the event he was like "this is a cool dude.".... Whitey Herzog has gone fishing with Denkinger(and bought him a watch---not sure the significance, other than to point out that there is no real animosity there)

.
Fortunately, the rest of us are listening to Smoltz.

Not an option in this market unfortunately.

It's A-A Ron time ... again!

So far exactly two really hard hit balls in the entire inning (Sanchez and Ellsbury),** but we'll take it.

** Make that three (Torreyes)

The real A-A Ron ! If he homers again, I will watch the Cards lose vs. Atlanta.

The bullpen in front of Kimbrel will sink this team should they make the playoffs. There really isn't a lights out guy among them. Reed as the new acquisition coming in and not able to locate a single pitch is just par for the course.

Can't Kimbrel just throw 3-4 innings ?!

Hey, Kimbrel was available to pitch to Sanchez and Judge. Just sayin'.

And... I talked too soon re: Smoltz. He's now talking gibberish as to why Kimbrel couldn't be used to face Sanchez and Judge.
