HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

I GUARANTEE THE RED SOX WON'T WIN TODAY.

I can only say it's likely Javy Baez won't do something amazing today... the Cubs have the day off, but it's not impossible one of his time-space continuum shredding moves pops into our normal space-time today.
   4. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: July 05, 2018 at 05:36 PM (#5705683)
It's also entirely possible that he saves someone who was drowning in the lake.

HOW WILL THE NATIONALS LOSE TO THE 27TH-PLACE MARLINS TODAY?!

Ok, so the Gigantes are not far away from being number 1 again in the West.
I whole-heartedly gift this series to the Cardinals.

Johnny Cueto activated for the Zombies - er, Giants

Bites off Menckelbobblehead !

Man, that Scherzer peptalk really seems to have worked wonders.
Nats down by 4 in the 2nd.
But of course, they will win in the end. Let's go Natsees !

Oh. 7:0.
   9. Bote Man Posted: July 05, 2018 at 07:49 PM (#5705722)
The Marlins have scored
two
three
six runs in the top of the 2nd inning against Hellickson, who was reputed to be "sick" but would give it the ol' college try anyway. The Nats recalled Jefry[sic] Rodriguez as a long reliever just in case.

SHORT NATS
LONG ATL

The boo birds are out in the heat in D.C.

Where is Sam when you need him???
   11. rconn23 Posted: July 05, 2018 at 08:06 PM (#5705730)
When do the Nats consider selling? I mean, they're just not good.

I GUARANTEE THE RED SOX WON'T WIN TODAY.

Well that's true, but I am sure the Astros can continue to destroy all before them.

Not sure what is up with the Nats, they look just shiite right now. Almost Metsian...

That Braves/Brewers matchup looks fun though(not sure I would've even considered thinking this at the beginning of the season, but hey it is what it is)
   13. Bote Man Posted: July 05, 2018 at 08:17 PM (#5705734)

They should consider forfeiting. I mean, it's already 9-0 anyway, who would notice??

So far with a complete absence of grace or dignity!

At least the Marlins aren't as bad as the Orioles. Unless my math is incorrect, they are on pace for like 46 wins this season....
   16. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: July 05, 2018 at 08:41 PM (#5705742)
I can't believe they let Hellickson stay in that long.
   17. perros Posted: July 05, 2018 at 08:43 PM (#5705744)
The Royals are right behind them, on pace for 115 losses.

Hell man, jettison the dead weight and call up your top prospects already.
   18. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: July 05, 2018 at 08:47 PM (#5705745)
The Nats are alive! ALIVE!

This makes leaving Hellickson in too long look just that much worse.
   19. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: July 05, 2018 at 08:54 PM (#5705746)
And just after posting that, the Nats show signs of life.
   20. snapper (history's 42nd greatest monster) Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:09 PM (#5705748)
I can't believe they let Hellickson stay in that long.

No SP should really be allowed to give up more than 5. Unless you're winning like 20-3, and he has a low pitch count.
   21. Bote Man Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:19 PM (#5705752)
Jamal Collier @JamalCollier
Wow. Trea Turner grand slam. The Nationals lead 10-9. Wow
   22. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:19 PM (#5705753)
The Nats are SO alive.
   23. The Yankee Clapper Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:20 PM (#5705754)
Down 9-0, Nationals come back to take 10-9 lead. Trea Turner Grand Slam helped considerably. His 2nd HR of the night.
   24. perros Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:26 PM (#5705755)
I belive the Marlins surrendered a six run lead IN THE NINTH to the Braves earlier this season, so no lead is safe for Mattingly's squad.
   25. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:28 PM (#5705758)
I just came to this game for the snark. Stayed for the incredible comeback.
   26. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:30 PM (#5705759)
Nats realise they are NOT playing the Boston Red Sox. Realise Marlins stink and act accordingly...
   27. rconn23 Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:31 PM (#5705760)
Watching the Marlins broadcast - I have never heard a pair of announcers trying to come to terms with what they've just seen.
   28. rconn23 Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:37 PM (#5705762)
Once I saw the Nats had come back, I was hoping to see Harper had played a big role. Alas, he only has walked and just struck out on three pitches in a dreadful at bat. I really hope he gets it going. The power has obviously been there, but something is really off.
   29. Howie Menckel Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:42 PM (#5705764)
I have Harper, Eaton, and Reynolds in the lineup tonight. they are..... hitless in a 10-9 game
   30. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: July 05, 2018 at 09:49 PM (#5705766)
Nats just piling on now...
   31. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: July 05, 2018 at 10:13 PM (#5705771)
Marlins coming back....Boteman's head on the verge of exploding....

A game where good pitching was a rumoured myth.
   32. Bote Man Posted: July 05, 2018 at 10:27 PM (#5705775)
Trea Turner: 8 RBI in the leadoff spot tonight.

I had low expectations coming into this season, so I'm not apoplectic over this terrible Nats run. They're out of it, the Braves look destined to win the NL East while the Nats look in from the outside. #FireDeivi
   33. cardsfanboy Posted: July 05, 2018 at 10:28 PM (#5705776)
Nice start to the Cardinals game. 4-0 in the first inning....
   34. cardsfanboy Posted: July 05, 2018 at 10:28 PM (#5705777)
Weird Lineup decisions though, Harrison Bader batting ninth.
   35. cardsfanboy Posted: July 05, 2018 at 10:30 PM (#5705778)
Wong gets caught on a wild pitch going to second, called out, wants to argue for replay, and it's as close as can be, looks safe....barely... but it's damn freaking close.
   36. cardsfanboy Posted: July 05, 2018 at 10:32 PM (#5705779)
Giants seem to think the original call will be overturned, (he was called out) but it's close as heck. Replay called him out, and Wong can't believe it. The Cardinals have already used their challenge in the first inning.... and it's probable that New York was wrong.
   37. Bote Man Posted: July 05, 2018 at 11:03 PM (#5705789)
and it's probable that New York was wrong.

But UNPOSSIBLE!! They told us technology is always right!!

Don't look now, but the Astros have tied it up in the 9th, threatening to win it outright here with bases loaded.

Ballgame over. Astros win. THUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH Astros WIN!!

poignant interview during the SF game with Orlando Cepeda, who survived a heart scare earlier this year.

nice to see him with his young grandson, at least - and him getting a chance to thank those who have rooted for him.
   40. Bote Man Posted: July 05, 2018 at 11:44 PM (#5705805)
An important etymology of the "in the jackpot" phrase.
   41. Bote Man Posted: July 05, 2018 at 11:52 PM (#5705808)
The Giants should forfeit.
