HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

HRs by Gio Urshela & Mike Tauchman.

HOW WILL THE DODGERS SPEND THEIR OFF DAY?
   4. JJ1986 Posted: April 22, 2019 at 02:29 PM (#5834187)
Mondays without day games are bad. We already have no day games on Tuesdays and half the time on Fridays.

Hopefully Steve Matz can get an out today.

"HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!"

The Yankees have no players left. They should win.
   8. Howie Menckel Posted: April 22, 2019 at 06:32 PM (#5834264)
only Yankee expected back in the next 10 days is C Gary Sanchez.

their SPs have allowed more than 2 runs in only 7 of 21 games so far.

across town, Jeff McNeil reaching his 100th hit on 291st AB is the quickest pace in Mets franchise history (Moises Alou at 100-for-294).

Tonight it's Matz 4.96 ERA vs Arrieta 2.25
Tuesday Wheeler 6.35 vs Eflin 3.68
Wednesday Vargas 9.58 vs Velasquez 2.55

what could go wrong?

WHO WILL RID ME OF THESE BREWERS?

You know the Yankees lineup is bad when you look at it and think, "Oh man, no Austin Romine today?"

Romine has been perfectly serviceable the last two years and better than I expected...but I saw a blog post today talking about how he was playing himself into a nice 4-5 year deal as someones starting catcher this offseason.

Wong has been the Cardinals best and most consistent player since opening day... Say what you will about Ozuna or Dejong, but Wong has been the teams best player.
   13. phredbird Posted: April 22, 2019 at 08:17 PM (#5834275)

martinez with a TOOTBLAN going first to third on a hit to THE LEFTFIELDER.

ugh.

luckily fowler takes second and then wong drives him in. cards up 1-0.
   14. phredbird Posted: April 22, 2019 at 08:19 PM (#5834276)

yes, wong has exceeded my admittedly low expectations, but that's why those guys are out there and i'm sitting here.
   15. cardsfanboy Posted: April 22, 2019 at 08:48 PM (#5834278)
Professional hitter Martinez, just hits...
   16. cardsfanboy Posted: April 22, 2019 at 08:49 PM (#5834279)

Sadly, other than the excessively high ops, subtract 150 points from it, and this is what I expected from Wong, a 3-5 war player.

Cards looking like a real WS contender.
Where is Piscotty ?

Oh, homerun.
   18. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:09 PM (#5834283)
Flaherty likes throwing at batters. Then gives them the 'What do you want, stupid batter ?' !
   19. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:12 PM (#5834284)
Steven Matz is suspiciously effective today. I call PEDS.
   20. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:16 PM (#5834286)
Goldschmitz !
   21. JJ1986 Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:16 PM (#5834287)
Who is on the Mets broadcast? Is that Todd Zeile?
   22. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:18 PM (#5834288)
Oh, the Mets are playing.

Double feature.
   23. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:20 PM (#5834289)
Already worth my while, Harper Boom, Arcia Boom.
   24. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:21 PM (#5834290)
I call PEDs , if Matz homers.

"Romine has been perfectly serviceable the last two years and better than I expected...but I saw a blog post today talking about how he was playing himself into a nice 4-5 year deal as someones starting catcher this offseason."

Yikes. Good luck to that team.
   26. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:25 PM (#5834292)
Comeon Matz, why the PEDs ?
   27. JJ1986 Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:28 PM (#5834293)
Throw to third, Matz!
   28. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:29 PM (#5834295)
I would've !
   29. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:31 PM (#5834296)
Ok, Andrew McCushion is not the dude to be scared of, but Realmuto ?!
Good luck, Matzy !

Good.
   30. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:32 PM (#5834297)
Oh, homerun.

The post now tops my "ridiculous things I've heard said about Austin Romine" board - beating out the two guys on my softball team last year who were rooting for Sanchez to stay on the DL all year because Romine was the better player.
   32. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: April 22, 2019 at 09:59 PM (#5834301)
I generally think David Ross is OK as a broadcaster, but he really needs to stop saying "Great visit right there" after every damn mound visit.

Seems funny to see Tauchman's picture on the scoreboard. They superimposed the Yankee hat and uni over his Rockies pic....so he had a beard.

Orioles put their backup catcher in to pitch the 9th, and he goes 123 on 60 MPH knuckleballs.

JA ####### Happless
   37. rconn23 Posted: April 22, 2019 at 10:34 PM (#5834313)
Signing J.A Happ over Patrick Corbin is going to haunt the Yankees. What a bone headed half measure.
   38. rconn23 Posted: April 22, 2019 at 11:39 PM (#5834320)
Well, Happ has settled in. The Yankees can't waste a decent start from him. Got to find a way to score.
   39. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: April 23, 2019 at 12:56 AM (#5834329)
In a battle of the bullpens, I can't imagine the Angels win this game. Hopehopehopehopehope.
   40. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: April 23, 2019 at 01:30 AM (#5834335)
As expected, the Angels strand Trout a few times. Yankees score. It all ####### sucks.
   41. The Yankee Clapper Posted: April 23, 2019 at 02:00 AM (#5834341)
Heading for the lucky 13th inning.
   42. Davo (Love Won The Battle Of Stalingrad) Posted: April 23, 2019 at 02:10 AM (#5834343)
Peter Bourjos is forced to play second base--first time in his career playing in the infield--and on the second batter of the inning he makes a spectacular play, diving to his left and throwing Gardner out at first by a step.

Angels are also going without a DH the rest of the game. Crazy stuff!
   43. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: April 23, 2019 at 02:16 AM (#5834345)
That was a stunning play by a guy who's never played 2B as a pro before. The smile on his face, though!
   44. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: April 23, 2019 at 02:31 AM (#5834346)
I keep trying to be optimistic, but it's just a losing battle.
   45. The Yankee Clapper Posted: April 23, 2019 at 02:46 AM (#5834347)
Long, tough game, but the gritty, gutsy, pseudo-Yankees eke out a victory while waiting out the return of the walking wounded.
