HOW WILL THE ANGELS LOSE TODAY?!

Hell just froze over----Kendrys Morales got a hit! To the opposite field! And drove in a run with 2 outs!

Pass the smelling salts.

Too bad Tanaka's wife didn't have triplets.
   4. rconn23 Posted: June 11, 2019 at 02:05 PM (#5850601)
When Tanaka loses it, he really loses it. But hey, at least they can trade for someone like Mike Leake at the deadline to fix their pitching ills.

I effin' knew it. When Didi made that dive to save a run, I knew they'd at least tie it. Yankees are going to win this ###### and complete the sweep tonight. I know it as sure as I know my own name.

Now here comes Voit with the 3-run jack. Just watch...

I don't need to see any more. I've seen this script played out nearly every year since 1997.
   10. rconn23 Posted: June 11, 2019 at 02:40 PM (#5850625)
Nice and easy. Two more innings like that, Tanaka. Please.
   11. rconn23 Posted: June 11, 2019 at 02:47 PM (#5850631)
I'm not sure where the Yankees would be without Gio Urshela, and I don't want to know.
   12. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 11, 2019 at 03:29 PM (#5850653)
6 & 2/3 useful innings from Tanaka might leave enough bullpen to handle tonight’s game, too. Need Kahnle to get the last out here, and pitch the 8th, to keep things tidy.

EDIT: 1/3 of an inning might be all for Kahnle, since there is warm-up activity in the bullpen as Yanks bat in bottom of 7th.
   13. rconn23 Posted: June 11, 2019 at 04:07 PM (#5850671)
Gary Sanchez HR 20. Pretty good.
   14. The Yankee Clapper Posted: June 11, 2019 at 04:08 PM (#5850672)
Gary Sanchez 2-Run HR (#20!) makes it 12-5 Yankees.
   15. TomH Posted: June 11, 2019 at 04:17 PM (#5850682)
stat of the day:
Trevor Rosenthal has walked 10 men this season
Hyun-Jin Ryu has walked 5 men this season; one-half

Ryu has pitched more than 20 times the number of innings.

Probably a couple of games out of first place, no worse than that. It's not like the rest of that team has been skunk butt.
   17. Lance Reddick! Lance him! Posted: June 11, 2019 at 08:21 PM (#5850759)
Jason Vargas seems like he's just about to look down and realize the cliff's edge is some distance behind him.

Okay... Tim McCarver gets a pass for the rest of this game for the stupid #### he is going to say.... simply because he said good things about Al Hrabosky... and yes I get Al as an announcer is not everyone's cup of tea... but that isn't what we are talking about, we are talking about his major league career...and everything you have heard about Al as a competitor and a teammate... McCarver verified... (most of you have probably never heard anything to be honest... or just focus on mound antics)
   19. rconn23 Posted: June 11, 2019 at 08:36 PM (#5850763)
So Paxton pitches like a guy who said he still had pain in his knee when the team decided to bring him back from the DL. Shocking. Again, the Yankees need two, not one pitcher at the deadline.
   20. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: June 11, 2019 at 09:03 PM (#5850770)
Having Daniel Murphy last season was worth it just because it meant he wouldn't get to eviscerate Cubs pitching.
   21. Chip Posted: June 11, 2019 at 09:22 PM (#5850780)
Andrew Benintendi grounds to short, and as he’s walking toward the dugout from 1st base he unleashes a few choice words toward Angel Hernandez for his strike zone. Not demonstrative, head down, never stops going off field.

First base umpire Vic Carapazzo tosses him even though Benintendi’s back is toward him and he’s said nothing to Carapazzo.

Yelich 3-3 with a single, double and homer. So maybe the cycle can happen since Yelich is a wizard
   23. Chip Posted: June 11, 2019 at 09:28 PM (#5850783)
Cora eventually tossed defending his player. First two ejections on the season for anyone with Red Sox.

Now both managers run by the Hernandez crew in Boston, after Woodward complains when second base ump corrects himself on a tag play mid-signal—first waved safe, then immediately out. (Looked out on replay.)
   24. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: June 11, 2019 at 09:42 PM (#5850787)
The Phillies reliever with the ridiculous hipster glasses gave up a homer. That’s good.
   25. PreservedFish Posted: June 11, 2019 at 10:03 PM (#5850790)
Color guy Lance Berkman is a big fan of Matt Albers, because as a rookie Matt Albers hit Ryan Braun twice in the back for watching his homerun.
   26. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: June 11, 2019 at 10:06 PM (#5850792)
I mean, if it were anyone other than Ryan Braun...
   27. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: June 11, 2019 at 10:50 PM (#5850799)
With four in LA this weekend, this road trip has the potential to be as ugly for the Cubs as their last trip.

Is There In Truth No Beauty??

Please don't send Anthony Rendon to the All-Star Game. He really just wants to kick back with his people down on the Bayou for a few days.

Dear Rockies,

You’re already up 10-1. You can give the ‘Everybody clap your hands’ crap a rest.

Thank you.

Is anyone else watching this replay sh*t show in Anaheim? New rule: if both managers are going to challenge different aspects of a play, they both have to do so immediately, not sequentially. FFS.

Great line about the atrocious pace by the broadcaster though: ‘Oh, man, the kind of music I used to listen to back in the first inning - I was so immature. It’s embarrassing now.’

Pete Alonso needs 3 homers in the next 23 games to tie Cody Bellinger for most pre-break homers by a rookie in NL history.
