I am not a fan of all these Mondays and Thursdays with no day games.
   2. Lassus Posted: August 19, 2019 at 03:57 PM (#5872663)
I am not a fan of any day that doesn't have the Mets playing.

Also, Zack Grienke is 35? Yeesh, we're all old. I sorta thought he might have a weird outside chance at 300, but 15 wins a year from now until 42 doesn't really seem likely.

The Yankees, Giants and Athletics.

An Adam Eaton HR, Anthony Rendon double, Juan Soto BB, Asdrubal Cabrera SF, & Matt Adams HR gives the Nationals a 4-0 lead after top of 1st @ Pittsburgh.

2020 SPRING TRAINING TENTATIVE SCHEDULES ARE OUT.
   6. The Yankee Clapper Posted: August 19, 2019 at 07:36 PM (#5872724)
Trea Turner 3-run HR makes it 7-0, Nationals, still no one out in top of 2nd.

7:0 Nats, what is up with those yearlong losers all of a sudden ?
   8. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 19, 2019 at 07:38 PM (#5872726)
Maybe Harper leaving was the best thing that ever happened to them...
   9. Bote Man Posted: August 19, 2019 at 07:38 PM (#5872727)
The Nationals hitters trying to make this game bullpen- and Deivi-proof.
   10. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 19, 2019 at 07:46 PM (#5872728)
Okay, if the Nats blow this early lead later, I will believe that they have a bullpen problem.
   11. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 19, 2019 at 07:48 PM (#5872730)
Trevor Williams. Nice beard, nice tats... he should smile more.

The good news is that Chris Sale doesn’t need Tommy John surgery. The bad news is that he’ll be shut down the rest of this season.

The Nationals are on pace to score 36 runs in this game.

I don't know much about theories. Please explain all current or not so current theories. Thank you in advance.

Blake Finney @FinneyBlake
That's the second time this season that Joe Ross has lost his no-hitter to the pitcher and that hit was also the pitcher's first career big league hit. Because baseball.

Still, #NoDH

Almost feels like Cruz has a better shot at 500 homers than Cabrera at this point.
   21. cardsfanboy Posted: August 19, 2019 at 09:36 PM (#5872745)
Hudson with 96 pitches in the 7th inning... no way he gets a complete game....even if the Brewers fail to get a base hit.
   22. phredbird Posted: August 19, 2019 at 09:45 PM (#5872748)

well, poop. i knew i would jinx hudson if i logged in ... :(
   23. Perry Posted: August 19, 2019 at 09:45 PM (#5872749)
Shildt pulling Hudson with a no-hitter through 6 2/3, obviously the right call at 110+ pitches and having just walked a guy and run up a lot of high counts to the last few batters. He's clearly gassed.
   24. phredbird Posted: August 19, 2019 at 09:50 PM (#5872751)

i agree. even if shildt let him have maybe 10 more pitches it would not have made a difference.
   25. cardsfanboy Posted: August 19, 2019 at 09:57 PM (#5872752)
agreed.. I was making a post assuming he would get the third out and then be pulled by a pinch hitter....but he didn't make it that far, and clearly needed to be pulled.
   26. phredbird Posted: August 19, 2019 at 10:04 PM (#5872755)

well, double poop.
   27. Perry Posted: August 19, 2019 at 10:08 PM (#5872758)
The newly clean-shaven Andrew Miller is quite a handsome devil. Who knew?
   28. The Yankee Clapper Posted: August 19, 2019 at 10:10 PM (#5872760)
Juan Soto, 4-for-4, including 2 doubles, and a BB. The Nationals have scored 43 runs in their last 3 games, with this one not quite over. 13-0.
   29. Esoteric Posted: August 19, 2019 at 10:31 PM (#5872763)
I speak as a die-hard Nationals fan, and as much as this explosion of offense has been pleasing from a bottom-line perspective, it really does shine a light on the ridiculousness of the juiced ball in 2019. None of these stats are going to have any real meaning unless normalized against the league average, and they're going to read so anomalously in historical retrospect.

That said, Go Nats.

NL WILD CARD

WAS 68-56
CHI 66-58

NYM 64-60
PHI 64-60
MIL 64-61
SFG 63-62
ARI 62-63* scoreless in 4th inning

Little early to get too excited, but Chi Chi Gonzalez has allowed no hits through 5 for the Rox. If he pulls it off he'd be among the unlikeliest ever, I would think. And before I could hit Submit, Carson Kelly with a line single to center.
   32. Los Angeles El Hombre of Anaheim Posted: August 19, 2019 at 11:27 PM (#5872769)
Another lead blown by an Angel reliever. Happens all the time, but darned if it still hurts.
   33. Rennie's Tenet Posted: August 19, 2019 at 11:39 PM (#5872774)
The Pirates are 7-28 since the break.
   34. Bote Man Posted: August 20, 2019 at 12:29 AM (#5872777)
I mean, when Albert Pujols steals 2B off you in 2019, it's time to pack up your sh|t and go home.

And Texas celebrates an extra inning walk-off win with a Falafel.
