HOW WILL THE TWINS WIN TODAY?!
   2. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 06:54 PM (#5533967)
Clayton Kershaw is on the team with the best record in MLB and leads the league in ERA. The Phillies have the fewest wins in the league (though 2 fewer losses than SF) and are sending out the pitcher with the highest ERA in the league against him. LOL!
   3. Heart of Matt Harvey Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:11 PM (#5533974)
This Pivetta kid for the Phillies is throwing BP to the Dodgers.
   4. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:22 PM (#5533983)
Curtis Granderson sucks. He got a 2-0 BP fastball and popped it up. What a disaster that trade has been
   5. The Yankee Clapper Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:28 PM (#5533988)
Aaron Judge hit # 44, a solo shot, in the first inning. Yanks lead Twins, 1-0.
   6. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:30 PM (#5533992)
Chase Utley is getting huge cheers from both the Dodger fans and Philly fans.
   7. Heart of Matt Harvey Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:31 PM (#5533993)
They love him. But then, who doesn't?
   8. Heart of Matt Harvey Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:34 PM (#5533999)
What a disaster that trade has been.

Ummm, for the talent given up? For displacing Joc Pedersen? Because he's cost 'em 116 wins?

Andrew Toles trying to save a Maeda no-hit bid may come back to haunt.
   9. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:39 PM (#5534007)
Rhame wasn't a huge loss, but Granderson has been well below replacement level.
   10. The Yankee Clapper Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:41 PM (#5534010)
Another catchers interference for Ellsbury. His record may never be broken!
   11. Textbook Editor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:46 PM (#5534014)
ah I see Fister is back to his June form. Wonderful.

Well, it all went to #### in Baltimore in 2011, might as well in 2017 too.
   12. The Yankee Clapper Posted: September 18, 2017 at 07:55 PM (#5534021)
7 Ks for Jaime Garcia in 3 innings. # serviceable.
   13. Heart of Matt Harvey Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:03 PM (#5534024)
I've felt like the Red Sox are going to win the East all along, but especially after the Yankees choked away that game in mid-August. And it's still hard to imagine otherwise.

Still, you don't want things to come down to that final weekend if you are Sox fans.
   14. The Yankee Clapper Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:07 PM (#5534027)
Buster Olney, @Buster_ESPN

Aaron Judge in his last 14 games: 12-for-42, 16 walks, 7 homers, 18 runs.
   15. Textbook Editor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:11 PM (#5534031)
Can't wait for Price to have a killer 2018 and then opt out of the rest of the contract.

Boston bedshits best in Baltimore
   16. BDC Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:14 PM (#5534032)
Rangers are idle. The hobbled Adrian Beltre went two-for-four last night, a double and two RBI – not passing anybody on any all-time lists, though. He needs one more Time on Base to catch Harold Baines, and eight more Plate Appearances to catch George Brett, which with $4.29 will get him a latte, but is kind of fun to know.
   17. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:14 PM (#5534033)

No. Fister gave the Sox a few nice games in row...now he is back to what he really is. Both his last outing and this outing should pretty much finish his career as a member of the Red Sox.

I thought the Seattle meltdown would do it, then he came good for a few games and luring some of us(not me!) into a false sense of acceptance of this new, improved Fister. But alas it was not to be and Doug has simply returned to the pitcher that he is now. Which is not very good.
   18. LA Podcasting Hombre of Anaheim Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:25 PM (#5534040)
Matt Olsen, homer #22 in 171 ABs.
   19. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:30 PM (#5534042)
Big year for rookies hitting home runs.
   20. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:41 PM (#5534050)
Pivetta made Bellinger and Puig look silly there. Good thing Kershaw has been in his A form today.
   21. Heart of Matt Harvey Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:42 PM (#5534052)
Pivetta didn't appreciate our mockery.
   22. Heart of Matt Harvey Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:45 PM (#5534054)
"Could there be two Justin Turners in this world?"

Perhaps more than two...
   23. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:51 PM (#5534056)
Stanton homering against Harvey was so predictable.
   24. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:52 PM (#5534058)
They love (Utley). But then, who doesn't?

Met fans.
   25. Heart of Matt Harvey Posted: September 18, 2017 at 08:59 PM (#5534060)
Altherr goes boom.

4-2 Phillies.
   26. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: September 18, 2017 at 09:07 PM (#5534063)
Harvey just gave 15 baserunners in 4 innings of work against the Marlins.
   27. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 09:09 PM (#5534064)
Forget what I said about Kershaw's A form. That was awful.
   28. gypsysoul3 Posted: September 18, 2017 at 09:12 PM (#5534066)
Comps to Maddux?

As we all love him, just wondered who would be a comp to him today, either in the majors or minors. And why you think this might be true.
   29. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 18, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5534069)
Anyone who's not channel surfing between the Bronx and Baltimore doesn't love baseball.

Kyle Hendricks
   31. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: September 18, 2017 at 09:53 PM (#5534084)
Jesus. Betances takes his hat off and puts it back on after every pitch, doesn't he?
   32. Nose army. Beef diaper? (CoB) Posted: September 18, 2017 at 09:56 PM (#5534085)
No es bueno, Betances.
   33. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 18, 2017 at 09:57 PM (#5534087)
One partial inning with Betances is all you need to know about why the Yankees suck in close games. How many other "star" relief pitchers average nearly 7 walks per 9 innings? And that's not even counting his 10 HBP and countless wild pitches.
   34. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:00 PM (#5534089)
And miracle of miracles, Chapman bails him out.
   35. Bote Man Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:19 PM (#5534100)
Holy crap! I worked out at 2B a couple weeks ago during softball practice and *I* could play better infield defense than the Red Sox are tonight.
   36. Bote Man Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:22 PM (#5534105)
They love (Utley). But then, who doesn't?

Ruben Tejada.

BALLGAME OVER! YANKEES WIN!! THUUHHHHH....YANKEES.....WIN!!!!!

Now we need thuuhhhhhh....Orioles to do their part.
   38. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:34 PM (#5534114)
Has anyone heard anything more about Pedroia's bloody nose? That was about the flukiest injury I've ever seen.
   39. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:36 PM (#5534115)
Britton almost looks like the Britton of old. Now let's put the Red Sox out of their misery and send the fans home happy.
   40. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:47 PM (#5534122)
THUUHHHHH....YANKEES.....WIN!!!!!

I wouldn't have believed it until I saw it, but that is actually more annoying in print.

Just a "bruise", apparently:
Eddie Matz, ESPN Senior Writer

The Red Sox have announced that Dustin Pedroia's injury is a nasal contusion and that's he's currently considered day-to-day.
   42. Textbook Editor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:56 PM (#5534124)
WHITE FLAG ALERT

Farrell does not want this one to go to 15, apparently.
   43. Bote Man Posted: September 18, 2017 at 10:59 PM (#5534127)
BALLGAME OVER! YANKEES WIN!!

Your ideas irritate me and I wish to unsubscribe from your newsletter.

But go Os! Not like that, though. YEESH!
   44. Textbook Editor Posted: September 18, 2017 at 11:09 PM (#5534129)
Why have Swihart on the roster, if not to PR for Leon right here?
   45. Bote Man Posted: September 18, 2017 at 11:16 PM (#5534132)
Just a "bruise", apparently:

They just showed Pedroia in the dugout, ugly as ever, no extra wear noted on his nose.

Also, walking whoever this guy Lin is to load the bases for Benintendi is...sub-optimal.

Castro was better as dictator of Cuba.
   46. Nose army. Beef diaper? (CoB) Posted: September 18, 2017 at 11:21 PM (#5534133)
Ball Saxbury.
   47. Bote Man Posted: September 18, 2017 at 11:33 PM (#5534135)
On the one hand, I'm disappointed that the Orioles lost.

On the other hand, F@CK THE YANKEES!
   48. Chip Posted: September 18, 2017 at 11:34 PM (#5534136)
Getting some value down the stretch out of Carson Smith has certainly been an unexpected bonus for the Red Sox.
   49. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 18, 2017 at 11:44 PM (#5534140)

Glad to hear it. I may loathe the Red Sox as a team, but other than Kimbrel** I kind of like most of their players, and Pedroia in particular.

** Who looks like he's begging to be de-pantsed, greased up and bungholed every time he looks in for the catcher's signal. Kinkiest look ever.

I'm not even sure if this merits comment but I am a little concerned that you were able to conjure up such a vivid image.

So I'm thinking the Red Sox are going to win 93 games. If NY is good enough to do that, then I concede the East with admiration for tackling the task with aplomb.
   51. Bote Man Posted: September 19, 2017 at 12:08 AM (#5534146)
So this just happened:

U.S. pulls out of Paris Climate Accord. Then hit by 4 Hurricanes in 6 weeks. Global Warming Karma? #imatexanrepublican #wakeup

.....and I know Karma. #taketheMRI

Padres beat the Diamondbacks. Dodgers' magic number drops to 3. That was still a gut punch loss earlier today, but an NL West title is starting to look inevitable anyway.
   53. Bote Man Posted: September 19, 2017 at 04:41 PM (#5534645)
Anthony DiComo @AnthonyDiComo
Terry Collins called Amed Rosario "violently sick," adding: "It's more than the flu." Rosario is unlikely to play tomorrow, as well. #Mets

Is this the polite way to say "He's projectile barfing"??
