Orioles get Teagarden for minor leaguer Henry and a player to be named (Viola designated)

The Orioles have acquired catcher Taylor Teagarden from the Texas Rangers for minor league pitcher Randy Henry and a player to be named, who is also expected to be a low-level minor leaguer.
[...]
The team designated left-hander Pedro Viola for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster for Teagarden.

Rangers catching prospects: And then there were none.

So run, don't mosey, to see "The Tea Cosy."

So, exactly why do the Orioles need another catcher? I thought Weiters was penciled in until either the Earth ended or Chuck Norris died.

Pedro Viola

I'm drafting him for the "Name Sounds Like It Was Randomly Generated by A Video Game" team.

Even Wieters must rest on the 7th day.

Couldn't Wieters just create an 8th day and rest then? I'm starting to think he's overrated...

They will play the Marlins in interleague in 2012, and we know what the Marlins do to highly-praised young catchers.

edited to remove point that I didn't notice was made in introduction, replaced with:

I've been playing MLB 2K10 a lot lately, and it's thrown out a lot like that, along with the occasional really odd combination (e.g. Hideki Greenberg).

I thought Darren Viola designated this as a Primer post, but was unable to get to his computer.

Pedro Viola

I'm partial to Dwight Seaver in this little mash-up game myself, but I guess Pedro Viola will do.

Then Wieters will need a rest on the 8th day. There will be games scheduled on it - it's all part of moving the Astros to the AL.

Why did the Orioles have a 27 and 28 year old Pedro Viola in AA the last two years? They obviously though enough of him to have him on the 40-man, and call him up to Baltimore a couple times, but they didn't think he was good enough to pitch in AAA?

Keep an eye on Jorge Alfaro (crosses fingers).

Oh the days when RSN wanted to trade Buchholz for Teagarden or Saltalamaccia. Now they want to give up the farm for Masterson.

Odds on Orioles making playoffs rise to 1000 to 1 with this signing (adjusted for loss of Viola).
