Orioles Sign Korean Pitcher Suk-min Joon

The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a contract with Korean right-hander Suk-min Yoon, a baseball source confirmed to ESPN’s Jim Bowden.

Dan Duquette always gets his man.  Unless his man is Bronson Arroyo or A J Burnett.

But has he passed his physical yet?

Angelos will see something anomalous in the eyelids on his MRI and void the contract.

Sports reporting:

1. Yoon tweets a picture of himself in an Orioles cap.
2. Ken Rosenthal asks the Orioles who deny that they signed him.
3. Rosenthal prints that there is no deal. Claims that the hat was a "joke between friends." Totally content to be a mouthpiece for Orioles.

If he pitches badly, all the Baltimore fans who cheer on the Terps will yell at him, "You Suk," forgetting the "-min."

If he has a bad first half, remove the M and exchange the Y with a J from his name and there's his new nickname.

That was way to much work for a bad pun...I want those 10 seconds of my life back. I demand recompense.

I'm sure hope this guy doesn't have nipple rings.

Despite the teasing, I like this move for the Orioles. The Birds only have 3/5ths of their rotation set. They could certainly use at least one more starter (and likely two). I'd rather see what Joon can do than Norris or Britton. If Joon isn't up to the task, he's a good option for the bullpen. He has experience as a closer and could help offset the loss of Johnson as closer, or set-up man if Hunter gets the job. Plus, they were able to get him for a low cost without losing any draft picks.

I'd still like to see Baltimore sign Ubaldo Jimenez or Ervin Santana (preferably Jimenez) though I don't know how likely that is at this point.

Was gonna make a Sun Kill Moon joke, then looked it up and they named themselves after Korean boxer Sung-Kil Moon.
