Orioles Sign Korean Pitcher Suk-min Joon

The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a contract with Korean right-hander Suk-min Yoon, a baseball source confirmed to ESPN’s Jim Bowden.

Dan Duquette always gets his man.  Unless his man is Bronson Arroyo or A J Burnett.

Sports reporting:

1. Yoon tweets a picture of himself in an Orioles cap.
2. Ken Rosenthal asks the Orioles who deny that they signed him.
3. Rosenthal prints that there is no deal. Claims that the hat was a "joke between friends." Totally content to be a mouthpiece for Orioles.

Despite the teasing, I like this move for the Orioles. The Birds only have 3/5ths of their rotation set. They could certainly use at least one more starter (and likely two). I'd rather see what Joon can do than Norris or Britton. If Joon isn't up to the task, he's a good option for the bullpen. He has experience as a closer and could help offset the loss of Johnson as closer, or set-up man if Hunter gets the job. Plus, they were able to get him for a low cost without losing any draft picks.

I'd still like to see Baltimore sign Ubaldo Jimenez or Ervin Santana (preferably Jimenez) though I don't know how likely that is at this point.

Was gonna make a Sun Kill Moon joke, then looked it up and they named themselves after Korean boxer Sung-Kil Moon.
