Well, Florida isn't moving the ball against LSU so far.

On the plus side, UF's punter has been brilliant, and the defense has taken advantage. The game would likely be 0-0 if Jon Bostic hadn't decided that he absolutely had to be a dick and taunt an LSU player on third and 17.

A while back I looked at my work schedule and got very excited to see I had this Wednesday (the debate) and this Friday (NL Wildcard game) off and would be done by noon this Saturday (UF-LSU). Obama tried the Ambien debate prep method and the Braves tried the Ambien playoff prep method, and I have to admit, I was not expecting much of a salvage job today from the Gators.

Not arguing that, but they do it all the time. It cost ND a game against Pitt not so long ago.

Well, the game is turned around again. WVU needs to answer, and try to avoid special teams plays at all times. Maybe Buie can remember what side the handoff is on this drive.

No, but I don't know about going for a HR there. I dunno, after the Buie play, I think they should have just worked to get to third and short. The real ####### is the tailback blowing the handoff on first down when WVU had all the momentum.

I think they will spot it at the one. But it doesn't matter, Texas will get 7 anyway. Geno's first turnover of the season and now I'm genuinely worried about how WVU is going to be able to move the ball. ####.

There is no reason to not just to call deep passes against WVU every play. No pass rush, and the secondary has a busted coverage on seemingly every play.

The defense is playing as well as can be hoped. Texas has only scored 17 points on them. If they can keep this up, I will be happy.

Holgorsen will have some adjustments, but Texas has shown the ability to adjust on the fly. Edmond was a huge pain in the ass on the short passing game, they have to figure out a way around him to get the tailback screens back into play.

If that dropped Woods pass was thrown by any other QB, people would rightly blame it on the QB. Geno Smith is really good, but he threw a bad pass there. Smith is definitely getting pressure that he hasn't seen this year. He's still mostly making good plays. He's going to have to play like the Heisman for WVU to win. I know he's got it in him. It's gonna be a fun second half.

It wasn't a great throw, but you're still talking about a ball that hit Woods in the hands, and would have hit him in the stomach. It was behind him a bit, but still catchable. Not a good throw, not an excusable drop.

It's gonna be a fun second half.

That's one way to put it. I really don't get much joy out of games like this, I'm mostly extremely anxious.

Other than the big Austin TD catch and run and Buie's trip, Texas has been doing a great job of keeping WVU's guys in front of the last tackler. Maybe it's a function of last week's game, but it feels like WVU is always one tackle away from ripping huge plays.

I'm surprised Georgia has sucked so bad. South Carolina has a really good team. I keep doubting them because I question the health of Connor Shaw, but apparently it's a non-issue. But they made a very strong argument today they're not only the second best team in the country, but they may be the best team in the country.

Can't argue with that. Geno earns his hype in the red zone though. Man, what a read and throw there.

This is a break out game for Buie. The coaching staff deserves a lot of credit for him turning into a back capable of playing like this.

I don't. Texas is at home and going punch for punch. I agree Texas looks more physically impressive, but WVU has left points on the field and has kept pace tonight and currently has the lead. The better team is the one who wins tonight.

My perception of their bias may be a reflection of my own bias and anxiety though, so I'll back off that complaint.

btw: this is the closest I've seen to a game thread on BTF for college football (WV at UT). Great game. Meanwhile, Nebraska and tOSU playing an unconventional 1st half. After virtually zero first downs in the 1st quarter, total pinball in the 2nd.

A&M totally killing selves at Ole Miss.

I don't think Texas has outplayed WVU, FWIW. I just think they're better, but it's very much an open question. I agree that the better team is probably the one that wins.

I put that on Ash. He's not as good as his stats (few are), and I think regression caught up with him there. I think he should have been able to avoid the sack and the other two passes/decisions were poor.

Gus Johnson is doing Texas games every week, so I think he's fairly used to this. But Texas is in a really, really tough spot now. They absolutely cannot give up a touchdown.

I'm kind off stunned at how little is has seemed to matter actually. Being away was such a handicap for the Bill Stewart squads, to see this team work so well in such a loud environment is stunning.

Well Texas needs a stop here. I think WVU has to be willing to toss the ball. And Texas has to force them too. It's frustrating, because they've shown they can do it. But they've run it on Texas, and you cannot let a ####### finesse team run the clock out on you on the ground.

This game still isn't over, because of the first down clock stop rules. But we're basically at the end of the line of first downs Texas can give up. Their defense has made some big plays but have not been nearly consistent enough.
