yeah but those other associations don't have any tickets. that's the problem i am hearing about. you weave your way through the website and then get told no tickets are available. meanwhile you see the venues and they are half empty and sebastian coe insisting everything is fine
Schengen Zone
Oh. Okay, I kind of meant the Schengen Zone to be a question, but I didn't put in a question mark.
Close. The Schengen zone is about movement of people across borders. I think the Olympic ticket thing has to do with the European free trade zone, which is a different area. Anyways, I think it would controvert European law for London to offer tickets to British people but not those other European countries.
It's just the NYS problem, the lardasses that get comped the best tickets don't bother to turn up.
That decision has been overturned:
That article is from last September.
This would be awesome. Like the real Olympics it would be dominated by a few contingents (Yay California, New York and Texas, you needed boosts to your egos!) but damn it would be fun to watch. Establishing residency would be a huge off-year story by itself.
Also, WJ thanks for #627. I watched Homer vs Dumitrescu in sabre and had really no idea what was going on, fun to watch though.
EDIT: and I should probably refresh from the night before. Cokes to those who mentioned Cali dominating.
They already have to determine the #1 seed somehow, so, the same way they do it now. For instance, in badmininton, they use a round-robin tournament. They could use the exact same round-robin preliminary round, but instead of the team with the best record playing the team with the worst record, the best team would play the team they chose to face.
France seems like a pretty safe bet there...
Thankfully, the IOC's rights are expensive, which could save her.
He could do a Carl Lewis and concentrate on just one event, but yeah, i agree.
Yes. Maybe even match what he's doing today. I'm not sure why he doesn't do it unless he figures the money will roll in forever no matter what he does.
I think a book now and later media work and speaker's fees will earn him a nice living without needing to keep up with young ones, swimmers get old early.
So, post-Olympics the kayak course probably gets as much use as a ski jump.
He should just be sure to do all of his pot smoking in private this time.
It's too cool to be abandoned. I wonder what you can charge tourists for a run...
EDIT: Which is a difference from a ski jump. Untrained people would die in one of those.
Is Phelps really as thick as he comes across in interviews? I understand that no athlete wants to say anything controversial on TV but my goodness, if he is really that dense someone is going to have to be responsible for signing his endorsement checks and making sure that he doesn't get lost on the way to whatever function is planned for that day.
The few times I've listened to him, I don't see him as a raconteur.
20+ Olympic medals. He'll just have to show up and smile.
(Actually, personally, I think that if the USA- and especially LA- were to get the Olympics in the 2020s, there would be only one choice for final torch bearer: Magic Johnson)
It is remarkable how smooth and well-spoken every American seem to be when interviewed by the pidgin-English-speaking Swedish TV*. Even Phelps.
*) I have no clue where they get those reporters, young Swedes should be better at English than that.
Phelps is not especially charismatic, but he never struck me as dense or stupid. I'm pretty sure Andrea Kramer is the dimmest person in that arena at any given moment though.
Hey, she has two whole questions to ask:
"What are your thoughts?"
or
"How do you feel?"
I mean, that's range, that is.
No, it must be the man whose name is synonymous with "Games" ... Milton Bradley.
"What are your thoughts?"
or
"How do you feel?"
I mean, that's range, that is.
That's one more question than Swedish TV...
Apologies if this has already been brought up I didn't see it right off. But truly, another Roy Jones moment for Olympic "boxing".
See #712.
On the other side, it would mean bringing in pro boxing and all of the people involved in it.
So nevermind.
Most of the pictures look like mug shots. Where did they get these pictures?
I don't know if you (or anyone else) saw the next fight, between an American and Russian, but it was scored bizarrely as well, although the winner was who it should have been.
That's dumb because hockey is by far the best commercial sport in the Olympics.
Baseball, cricket, football and rugby are not Olympic sports. Soccer is U-23's (mostly) and has a qualification process that excludes half of the best teams. In road cycling, the Olympics is barely on the calendar. Basketball doesn't have the international quality yet. Olympic boxing is stupid. I have no idea about handball.
In hockey, all the best teams automatically qualify, there are 6.5 teams that could win the gold in any year, the players and fans care about the Olympics, the level of play is phenomenal to the point that it makes the NHL look like ####, and there are real rivalries between the participants.
Provided, of course, that they can work out this CBA.
You didn't mention one of those sports though: tennis. Olympic tennis HAS greatly improved. Although it doesn't bring that many points to the winner in the professional tours, it usually gets all of the big players in (only Nadal was missing this year, and that is because he's hurt), which is a change from the early days. However, I have to think that the UK would go far more nuts if Andy Murray were to win WIMBLEDON at Wimbledon than if he were to win "only" the Olympics at Wimbledon.
It'll be interesting to see how well Golf does in the Olympics starting in Rio. Have they announced yet how they are doing it? I presume it'll be Men's and Women's competitions and maybe some "team" competitions...
Here's hoping we can pull out a few track cycling medals and of course Val Adams in the shotput, then we can probably call it a Games.
Does Logan Campbell include that for new clients?
Kiwis are going to sweep the synchronized rhythmic sheep shagging mixed intermediate medley, aren't they?
If I remember correctly, the only T&F event that China is expected to medal in is hurdles.
They might get medals on the women's side in the marathon, 20K Walk and the weight events. They are not favored in any of those events.
Also, yes, Azarenka is kind of one of the best players in the world, not "some Belorussian lady".
Federer was pretty sloppy in his match. He'll need to tighten it up for the final.
Time for the main event, Murray-Djokovic. They just played an amazing point on Murray's third service game.
