OT: NFL/NHL thread

i estimate that absolutely noone gives a damn about the NHL, so by folding that thread into this one, we won’t distract from what this thread is really about: boner pills, blood doping (is it low t?), and…jesus christ did mike vick just throw another ####### interception?

Especially when the reality is that the only reason Atlanta because of bad calls, and not because they blew a three-score lead for the second time in two weeks.

Especially, Especially since all the "bad" calls were in the 2nd half after the Niners had already closed to within 3.
2602. The Anthony Kennedy of BBTF (Scott) Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:30 PM (#4351363)
I have no faith in the Patriots defense here.

And that's part of the reason why.
   2603. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:30 PM (#4351364)
that was a fine run by rice

How pathetic do you have to be to want to record five TV shows at the same time?
   2605. Esoteric Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:33 PM (#4351366)
Al-Qaeda is great with the bomb, but gets intercepted regularly and blown up in the backfield.
I'll admit it, I smiled at this. If that's "scott original," then well-played my friend.

Brady is playing rather poorly.

Five minutes of ads after the TD because of the injury and 5 more minutes after the PAT.

America's most popular tv game!

Finally, a kickoff return.

Wendell with the "What did I do" gesticulating after shoving a guy.

On each drive the Patriots move the ball, but haven't been able to get into scoring position. Which is why they're losing.

That's a nice nice screen fake.
2612. The Anthony Kennedy of BBTF (Scott) Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:43 PM (#4351377)
Ugh, just a bad job by Ridley there, and a very good job by the Raven's defensive line.
   2613. JJ1986 Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:44 PM (#4351378)
24 looked like he called for the inside receiver and then ignored him. 23 did nothing.

Easy throw and catch for Brady and Welker.

Rob Gronkowski is a large human being.
2617. DA Baracus, Braves Intern Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:46 PM (#4351382)
Oh man so many Falcons fans I know are complaining about this that and the other. 0 points in the 2nd half. Let that sink in.
2618. The Anthony Kennedy of BBTF (Scott) Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:48 PM (#4351383)
In the local Dunkin Donuts they have a lifesized Gronk cutout. I like standing next to it and (as a short but not that short dude) looking like a dwarf.

I have to admit, the throwback Big Mac commercials make me want a Big Mac, which is the first time in 2 decades that a McDonalds commercial made me want to eat their food.
   2619. Tom Nawrocki Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:50 PM (#4351384)
Is that a real Big Mac commercial from 1978, or a new one designed to look like 1978?

good work on 4th call
   2626. Tom Nawrocki Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:58 PM (#4351392)
Wow, that's an amazing call, especially for a no-huddle offense.
2627. The Anthony Kennedy of BBTF (Scott) Posted: January 20, 2013 at 07:59 PM (#4351393)
That was a brilliant 4th down call. Perfect.

I love that Brady is so slow that he can't get around a near-motionless official.

Hernandez probably should have got OOB on that one.
2630. Los Angeles El Hombre de Anaheim Posted: January 20, 2013 at 08:01 PM (#4351396)
Nice catch, but Hernandez should have gotten out of bounds.
2631. The Anthony Kennedy of BBTF (Scott) Posted: January 20, 2013 at 08:01 PM (#4351397)
Big blitzing Brady is a really bad idea. He's among the best ever at feeling the blitz and getting the ball away.
2632. Petunia inquires about ponies Posted: January 20, 2013 at 08:02 PM (#4351398)
Wow, Brady just spiked the #### out of Ed Reed's knee.

bad clock management there

2641. The Ghost screws up everything with hubris Posted: January 20, 2013 at 08:04 PM (#4351407)
Lousy clock management. Receiver should have gone out of bounds at the 10, and Brady should have grounded it instead of running.

Pats are going to lose by a couple. Not scoring a TD or at least getting all your shots in is dumb un-patriots like football. They have done that a couple times this season and it has hurt them.

Dumb, dumb dumb.

True story. Don't we have some responsibility to notify the authorities? The BBTF archives are probably enough to find probable cause to arrest Sam Hutcheson. Or on the off chance someone else is charged, those posts may be enough to find reasonable doubt. OJ had less to work with.

I keep hoping that Oblivion is going to turn into a movie based upon the game. It would at least be better than what they're actually releasing.

Pretty good defense on that first possession.

Details. First reports are often wrong, anyway. Besides, a savvy neck-stabber isn't above wearing a disguise. He could even be innocent, despite his close association with the m.o.

A fan getting stabbed in the neck isn't a sign of Sam Hutchenson. It's an official getting stabbed in the neck that sets off all those warning signs.

Way to open up the offense by the Ravens.

2683. Petunia inquires about ponies Posted: January 20, 2013 at 08:50 PM (#4351457)
Yeah, what scott said. The concept of 'clean hit' doesn't apply in this context. Under the current rules the defender has to give a receiver time to contemplate the mysteries of the universe after a catch before contacting him. Usually. Hence 'idiotic'.

Couple that with Bradys uninspired play and we are lucky its even close... for now.
   2686. MHS Posted: January 20, 2013 at 08:53 PM (#4351461)
And just to be clear the for now is indicative of my belief that the ravens will open it up.

I'm going to pull a Ray DiPerna here. This game is OVER. O-V-E-R. No way the Ravens don't win. I'd stake my non-existant credibility on it.
