OT: NFL/NHL thread

i estimate that absolutely noone gives a damn about the NHL, so by folding that thread into this one, we won’t distract from what this thread is really about: boner pills, blood doping (is it low t?), and…jesus christ did mike vick just throw another ####### interception?

I didn't see it, but half-time is usually where there are local ad buys, so depending on where you are...

3326. Depressoteric feels Royally blue these days Posted: February 03, 2013 at 09:12 PM (#4361533)
Have to say that this not the halftime outcome I expected from a Ravens/Niners matchup. Then again, Baltimore has been exceeding everybody's expectations for several weeks running now, so maybe I should've seen it coming in a counterintuitive way.

Looking at some the passes Flacco has thrown in this game (and during the rest of the playoffs), the fact that he has managed to break the NFL record for postseason TD passes w/o an interception is either 1.) a ridiculously lucky fluke; 2.) proof positive that there are things about QB'ing that I simply fail to grasp.

Understood. I've had a few bits where I doubted it, mostly the very open intro notes. But everyone always thinks THEY KNOW, including me. I don't think it's always so easy to say, that's all.

Bland, but not nearly as awful as the Black-Eyed Peas. But maybe in a way "boring" is worse than "trainwreck".

The Niners are a damn good team that's capable of coming back against any opponent, but it's almost as if a lot of the commentary prior to the game seemed to ignore or discount the fact that the Ravens have only been at full strength for the last month, during which they've beaten big odds on the road twice and outplayed the alleged two best teams in the AFC down the stretch. I can see being surprised at the margin, but not that the Ravens are playing well and winning.

3349. Srul Itza At Home Posted: February 03, 2013 at 09:31 PM (#4361565)
The story of the game is 49er mistakes. Penalty on first play kills drive. Penalty on first Ravens drive keeps play alive. Two turnovers. Some bad coverages allowing Flacco heaves (and that's what they were, heaves, not throws) to go for big yardage.

Way too many mistakes. This is not a team you want to spot a 15 lead.

But there is happiness in Vegas, since the heavy money went to SF.
