OT: NFL/NHL thread

i estimate that absolutely noone gives a damn about the NHL, so by folding that thread into this one, we won’t distract from what this thread is really about: boner pills, blood doping (is it low t?), and…jesus christ did mike vick just throw another ####### interception?

I give any commercial that celebrates America and its citizens a minimum of a grade bump

and that was pretty well done

I saw the fox logo burn up in flames. this looks promising

I'm torn on the Coke commercial. It's saccharine as all get out, but it's nice and inclusive which tickles my hippy heart. I'm going to say B+

When you start going "I didn't hold" before the play is over, you've definitely held.

Coke has to be the best advertised product in history. The only place I've ever been where coke ads weren't ubiquitous was (somewhat ironically) Cuba.

now take it down the field and put Denver out of its misery

That looked like a throw by a 92 year old Manning.

The AFC was a lot weaker than the NFC as the season progressed.

This kills me as a Niner fan. The Niners had a really good shot of beating the Seahawks, probably should have beat them.
Yeah, me too. But I think Manning would have had a lot more success against the niners. Seattle's defense is just about perfectly built to frustrate him.

why is seattle trying to run out the clock????

YAHOOOOOOO!

NFC - 2
AFC - 0

$50 for me at the half.

What's the greatest Super Bowl comeback ever? Like two touchdowns? If that?

The Broncos are embarrassing themselves.

My guess is that it's because they get the ball back after the half.
7426. Darkness and the howling fantods Posted: February 02, 2014 at 09:00 PM (#4650328)
The only thing that will make me enjoy the halftime show is if RHCP decide to bust out their old sock gimmick.

Not sure about the biggest successful comeback, but the Niners came within a whisker of coming back from 28-6 against the Ravens just last year.
7430. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: February 02, 2014 at 09:04 PM (#4650332)
So this would be at least the third largest playoff comeback in history if the Bronco's win. I'm going to pull a Ray and call it over. It's always been over.

Stolen from Twitter: "It's close! At halftime, Seattle's offense is leading Seattle's defense 13-9."

I don't think I'd give Seattle full credit for the safety, but I like the line anyway.

Oh, I actually find him perfectly enjoyable, but I think that Super Bowl halftimes are so over-the-top ridiculous that the only thing decent that can come out of them are moments like nipple-gate.

If they actually came back and won, they'd break the previous record by 12 points. The Redskins came back from 10-0 against the Broncos in 1988 and beat them 42-10. It's like the Broncos are reverting to their Super Bowl teams of the 80's.

don't know why folks are claiming Denver is playing poorly. seattle is just better

if you sat down and picked the top 15 players Denver would have what, 2-3 guys? I know other than manning I would take at least 7 seattle defensive players before I even thought of a bronco

My only concern is that they go overboard on cheesy special effects to try to draw people in. But if anyone can do it it's Neil Degrasse Tyson.

I didn't know who Bruno Mars was until late 2011, then realized I'd been hearing him everywhere. Dude is a solid pop songwriter. Not great, but he's had some all-star quality years.

I think it's both. Manning has been straight up bad. Even when he isn't being rushed he's been nowhere close to accurate. You can't say the Seahawks did anything on the safety, and the Broncos have not been good at protecting the ball.

I agree, I was just figuring it out aloud. I think probably 7 of the 10 best players in the game are on the Seahawks defense, and it could be 8.

I looked it up. Kiedis is actually 51, so, yeah, he's looking pretty good.

After which halftime performance have people been doing that? And the performance of Janet Jackson's nipple does not count.

don't know why folks are claiming Denver is playing poorly. seattle is just better

I said before the playoffs started that if Seattle won the whole thing, they'd be in the conversation for the greatest single season team in the past 30-35 years. Nothing I've seen up to now has caused me to revise that opinion.

And right now the 49ers must feel a bit like the 1978 Red Sox and a whole slew of NFC title game losers from the 80's.
   7461. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: February 02, 2014 at 09:23 PM (#4650366)

I'd agree...I'm panicked just watching the Seattle defence. Assuming Manning isn't the greatest QB ever, I'm not sure what that hypothetical guy would be doing that would be successful.

Yeah Kiedis is 51 and not looking too bad for his age, but I agree maybe a tank top maybe would have worked better. Flea on the other hand looked great shirtless even still.

I think your quarterback has to be able to scramble against the Seahawks. Their pass rush is good enough to get there fairly quickly, and the quarterback has to be able to buy time for the receivers to escape from the clutches of the dbs.
