Alabama Is still Ranked #1.  Will they hold steady to repeat? Make it to the title game?  Or does another team claim the Crystal ball in Miami in January.

A minute and change to go in the half, strong armed QB and downfield threat. The deep ball was so predictable. QB under threw it, but blame the play calling too.

SoCar v Clem a dandy tonight. Am I alone in thinking UCLA is tanking this game?

Wow, what a ####### kick!

I hope Golson isn't hurt.

I don't think they're tanking. I just think they're not playing 100%. I think they'd be doing that regardless - there's not much separating Oregon and Stanford, and if anything I actually think UCLA matches up better with Oregon.

If the Rose turns out to be UCLA v Nebraska, that's 2 rematches for UCLA in one season.

another season where the ticker explanation to sort out the nineteen Big East tiebreaker scenarios takes about forty five seconds to sail past the screen. As if we need more reasons to kill this sucker.

I am happier about this than I should be. Miss St. being ranked for most of the season has really bothered me (because I am a weirdo, I suppose) and I'm happy they won't finish the season that way.

The refs are KILLING Clemson right now. Two completely bogus PI calls on this drive.

Edit: Pick in the end zone for Clemson! What a play. This game is awesome.

Now that Baylor has clowned Kansas State, Mississippi is the best "team nobody bothers to think about". They are 39 in the Sagarin rating, gave Alabama one of their tougher games, almost beat LSU, and almost beat A&M.

Notre Dame's offense has actually been pretty good the second half of the season.

Why does the college football trophy look so ugly? The NFL doesn't do much better than college, but the Lombardi Trophy puts the CFB trophy to shame.

Or Baylor is, having close losses against Oklahoma, Texas and West Virginia with Oklahoma State still to play. Ole Miss has an impressive tough loss resume, but Baylor's actually beaten someone ranked.

My point is that after beating Kansas State by 28, people who aren't serious college football fans have seen and/or think they're pretty solid this year. Baylor is better than Ole Miss, but Baylor is "somebody" now. Arizona State is another team that people probably didn't/don't realize is a pretty good team.

2 things:

1. I don't think a punt has ever been kicked that hasn't taken a bounce or roll for one of the teams.
2. 90% of bounces take a kicking team bounce.

I had little respect for Notre Dame coming into this game, and I have no more respect for them so far tonight. An offense that settles for field goals against this USC squad will get lit up by either Alabama or Georgia.

I think you're right. It just shows how far the top of the conference has to go to be nationally elite. And for some reason we will get to see both of them in the preseason top 10 next year.

Sucks that Virginia Tech looked like crap this year. Alabama's opening game is against Virginia Tech, kind of nice to have a big opening type game.

I think they are playing a bit conservative in the red zone tonight because they know USC isn't going to be able to put up points. They have 379 yards to USC's 152 so far. They've been pretty dominating tonight.

Edit: That said, of course they will have trouble moving the ball against those two defenses. They aren't an elite offense.

I think against either Bama or UGA the Irish have to score 28 points or more to win. I don't think that happens.

Not a very good strategy for a dominant team. Playing so conservatively actually leaves a lot up to chance. One big play and the game is up in the air again.

note to self: make it to a So Car v Clemson game some time.

I don't disagree, especially right now as USC looks like they are about to close it up. They've kicked field goals on 4th and 6 twice, 4th and 4, and 4th and 2. I have to think they go for at least one of those, probably two, under different circumstances. Maybe the pressure is getting to Kelly.
   1043. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: November 24, 2012 at 11:47 PM (#4308917)
my problem with Te'o for Heisman honks, is that there have been lots of better defensive talent getting 1/10th the Heisman consideration over the years (noting the obsession of some to support 'the best player on the #1 team').
   1044. Cowboy Popup Posted: November 24, 2012 at 11:47 PM (#4308918)
Kiffin takes away a TD! He has a knack for really shitty TO calls.

Edit: Looking at ND's offensive numbers, it's kind of inexcusable that they only have 19 points. 5.1 yards a rush, 8.3 yards a pass, and one TD?
1045. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: November 24, 2012 at 11:47 PM (#4308919)

I agree, Suh was better, but that isn't a valid reason to not vote for him if you think he's the best player in the country. It's a weak year.

As a Georgia fan, it's probably pretty convenient to ride the coat tails of Alabama or the SEC. But Notre Dame has looked better and played better than Georgia this year. And ND/Georgia is probably the country's best hope to hear the stop of SEC chest puffing.

I will be surprised if Missouri is this bad again next year. They are a better program than that. Of course, I have no idea who replaces Franklin, or what else they lose, so I may be totally off base.

Totally right. I thought he was a senior. He was a lot better his sophomore year. He will be better next year or there will be a different QB. Green-Beckham looks like a heck of a ballplayer too. And I respect Pinkel as a coach, he's good at what he does.
   1065. Cowboy Popup Posted: November 25, 2012 at 12:08 AM (#4308942)
For a team that has been running the ball down USC's throat all day, they sure have struggled in the red zone. Not sure why you call two QB runs and then a fade that he clearly isn't capable of hitting there. Use your really good backs Kelly!

Franklin is a good player, he was just hurt this year. If he was healthy, Mizzou's year is totally different - and at the least they beat Florida.

Coming into this weekend

Hawaii 1-9 #169 Sagarin (playing UNLV)
Syracuse 6-5 #53 (beat Temple)
California 3-9 #70
Utah 4-7 #45 (beat Colorado)
Washington 7-4 #25 (lost WSU)
Colorado 1-10 #151 (lost UTAH)
Arizona State 6-5 #28 (beat Az)

Horrible play calls? But you can "feel the energy on the field" man. It's all, spiritual and ####.

2002 UGA, lost to guess who during their 'can't beat UF' period.
1982, tough loss in MNC game in Sugar Bowl to PSU.

Cool, thanks for the history lesson!

These guys should be able to take some time out from their slobbering on Domer knob to criticize Kiffin.

Bama -11 to -13 from what I've read, and UGA v ND, no f'ing clue. NOOOOOOOOOO, is the usual reply.

Just got to play better than Pitt in the title game.

Honestly an Alabama-Notre Dame game will be the most watched and least watched BCS title game of all-time.

Might?

Hot wife, great job, I thought there was probably some intelligence buried in there somewhere. I am beginning to wonder if he's just Forrest Gump with a famous football coach father now.

Good lord, I am really looking forward to the clowning Notre Dame is going to receive in the title game. How else can you explain that triple OT win over Pitt. WTF were they in triple OT to Pitt in the first place?

I look forward to the SEC champions destroying this overrated group of hacks.

and this is preferred to an all SEC BCS title game?

Not really, no.

If Alabama wins the SEC Championship, they should play UF for the BCS Championship. If UGA beats Bama, they should play Oregon.
