Alabama Is still Ranked #1.  Will they hold steady to repeat? Make it to the title game?  Or does another team claim the Crystal ball in Miami in January.

Not to argue that Ga Tech has a good defense, but I would like to point out that UNC finished 10th in the nation in scoring offense. They weren't bad.

GT's defense was horrific under Al Groh. They were merely bad after Groh was fired.

nebraska takes the lead with about 4 minutes left

booth michigan and nebraska own time of possession

of course, that speaks to the other teams being able to score fast versus having to work it

Nebraska benefiting from a lot of ticky-tack "personal foul" penalties.
   2204. Spivey Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:36 PM (#4336024)
Michigan and Nebraska are making very strong efforts here.
2205. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:37 PM (#4336025)
by ticky tack you mean one that was a late hit, and one called on nebraska that was earned as well
   2206. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:37 PM (#4336026)
that was grounding

i am sure sam will excuse it
2207. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:39 PM (#4336029)

UGA has committed one real PF - a face mask. They've been called for three. The "late hit out of bound" was something you shouldn't call in co-ed intramural flag football.
2208. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:40 PM (#4336030)
that was grounding

Didn't look like Murray was out of the tackle boxes, no. (Of course, Martinez just grounded to avoid a sack from Jarvis Jones.)

EDIT: which they just called, late.
2209. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:40 PM (#4336031)
how do they call intentional grounding there when they didnt on the previous possession for georiga
   2210. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:41 PM (#4336032)
so now the refs call grounding

correct call but a bit of consistency would be helpful
2211. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:41 PM (#4336033)
a late hit out of bounds is a late hit, you have to call it there
2212. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:43 PM (#4336034)
On the first play, Murray made a move toward running out of the tackle box (but clearly didn't.) Martinez didn't even make the move.

The "late hit out of bounds" was absolute crap in a big-boy pants football game.
2213. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:44 PM (#4336035)
how is it crap? he was more then a yard out of bounds when he made contact with the guy, and didnt do his fake pull up until after the contact. rules are rules you cant just not call them since it's an sec team
   2214. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:46 PM (#4336037)
meat

let it go. with dial not around sam feels he has to speak on behalf of the sec fans which means all other teams are garbage, the sec only loses when the coaches call a bad game/refs are in the tank, and it's hard for sec fans to undersatnd why their league even has to bother with bowl season
2215. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:47 PM (#4336038)
The defender was running at full speed to make a play. A yard or two before he was going to make a tackle, another defender rode the runner out of bounds. His momentum carried him one step, at which he barely made contact with the end of the tackle.

That is not a friggin' personal foul. That's football.
2216. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:50 PM (#4336040)

Seriously, Harv? I didn't have you pegged for a panty-wetting, "we get no respect" cry-baby. I thought meat had that role covered pretty well.

In this conversation I've admitted that the first facemask was a penalty, I've admitted that Murray wasn't out of the box and should have been called for grounding, and I haven't said anything about the SEC or other conferences. It's like you're looking for something to ball to momma about. Need a hanky?
   2217. Spivey Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:51 PM (#4336041)
According to some random person on a random website, this will be the first year since 1916 that an unranked team is playing in the Rose Bowl. I didn't even realize that they had rankings then.
   2218. Mike Webber Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:51 PM (#4336042)
I wish there was a camera on Bo Pelini all the time, you know a jackazz cam. It could be on one of those ESPN 360 channels.
   2219. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:52 PM (#4336043)
the miss state qb made an awful throw to the middle of the field with his back to his own goal line

yowsa
   2220. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:53 PM (#4336045)
sam

never referred to the big ten.

just that the constant whining about an obvious call is tedious
   2221. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 03:54 PM (#4336050)
and nw sticks it into the end zone

hopefully they can hang on to the lead

Purdue avoids the shutout

that was a complete mismatch and it showed

Oh I know, I expected Purdue to get blasted

meat

i am hopeful wisky can make a game of it against stanford. with phillips at qb the wisconsin offense is very limited

and the badgers special teams are very iffy
   2226. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:01 PM (#4336061)
that looks like an interception but my eyes are pretty shot so who knows
2227. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:01 PM (#4336062)
I think Stanford should control that game start to finish, I think they are that much better then Wisc.

But the biggest x factor to me is Barry back on the sideline
   2228. smileyy Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:03 PM (#4336063)
Looks like the NW DB didn't have control of the ball when it bounced back down to hit the ground -- that is, it came up off his hands, off his chest, then back down to the ground.

But it's really hard to tell with the available angles.
2229. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:03 PM (#4336064)
The shot of the coach (Alvarez?) getting off the bus and being escorted to the stadium with cheering throngs, like some head of state or something, is what's wrong with college football.
   2230. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:04 PM (#4336066)
meat

what's interesting is that the players have all but stated that they are glad the bielema is gone.

   2231. smileyy Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:14 PM (#4336070)
I would have gone for it if I were Northwestern.
   2232. Spivey Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:16 PM (#4336071)
Abdullah just shaked that Georgia safety out of his jock.
   2233. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:17 PM (#4336075)
congrats to northwestern

whodathunkit?
2234. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:18 PM (#4336077)
10-3 is one heck of a season for Northwestern. To think it could have been better.
2235. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:22 PM (#4336082)
UGA is looking soft against the run today
2236. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:22 PM (#4336083)
UGA defense clearly didn't get up for the consolation game today.
   2237. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:23 PM (#4336084)
nebraska caught georgia napping

the coaching staff better punch itself in the face on that one
   2238. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:27 PM (#4336090)
5 Oklahoma State players completed at least one pass against Purdue.
   2239. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:29 PM (#4336092)
very disappointed in the deep balls being allowed by N secondary. Not characteristic.
2240. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:33 PM (#4336096)
I go out for a smoke and miss the TD
   2241. Spivey Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:36 PM (#4336097)
I haven't seen a rush defense look this soft since the SEC championship game.
   2242. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:38 PM (#4336100)
you shouldn't have turned off your TV Spivey after the SEC game, there was a helluva rush D performance by Nebraska.
2243. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:38 PM (#4336101)
Todd Grantham is out-thinking his own defense.
2244. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:39 PM (#4336102)
wow they have to waste a timeout only one left that could be huge later on
2245. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:40 PM (#4336103)
UGA is thin on the defensive line, and they're clearly gassed out there, but Grantham is not helping his players with this switching.
2246. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:41 PM (#4336104)
both mich and neb have turn overs at the same time. ouch
   2247. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:42 PM (#4336105)
it's pretty silly for the announcers to point to the heat as a problem for a team based in georgia
   2248. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:46 PM (#4336107)
This game is plodding along.
2249. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:47 PM (#4336108)
overall though solid games today, lets hope this continues through the evening
2250. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:47 PM (#4336109)
there has to be a flag on that......well a different flag was thrown for 15 yards...
2251. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:48 PM (#4336110)
Another convenient personal foul to get N out of bad field position.
   2252. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:50 PM (#4336112)
and just like that, a magic false start. You'd think these teams are highly penalized.
   2253. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:51 PM (#4336113)
glad martinez didn't force anything
2254. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:54 PM (#4336115)
almost had him stopped there, good run to get the first down
   2255. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:55 PM (#4336116)
michigan blocked a kick

still lead sc by one
   2256. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:55 PM (#4336117)
Spurrier hates kickers.
   2257. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:57 PM (#4336118)
mrams

as much as nebraska hates defending passes downfield?
2258. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:58 PM (#4336119)
The point about the heat is that the two sidelines are notably different in temps due to shading.
2259. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:59 PM (#4336120)
I thought Nebraska was supposed to be good at pass defense
   2260. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 04:59 PM (#4336121)
taht was some kind of catch by the ga player
   2261. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:00 PM (#4336122)
today at least. As much as I've been down on Pelini's rush defense schemes (all five seasons, not just this season), it is the play of the secondary that has really been his calling card. Today has been really disappointing.
   2262. JJ1986 Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:00 PM (#4336123)
Michigan, fake punt on 4th down, gets the 1st by the smallest margin I've ever seen. Spurrier blows up.
   2263. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:00 PM (#4336124)
sam

are you claiming that georgia wasn't told that the sun exists?

//this is meant in fun but if you want to go all christopher and spew venom have at it
   2264. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:01 PM (#4336125)
The spot was bs and then the ref is blind, that's not a first down. wtf.
   2265. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:02 PM (#4336127)

and yet, all but 2 or three major football stadiums run north and south and the same shade/heat issue exists with nary a remark all year long.
   2268. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:03 PM (#4336130)

so glad you could make it. now sam is not on an island telling everyone everything that is wrong with everything

OMG Clowney
2270. CFBF Is A Golden Spider Duck Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:04 PM (#4336132)
I think the ref just missed a measurement. He didn't mis-measure, understand. I think he called a first down when the ball was clearly short of the chains.

Never seen that before.
2271. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:04 PM (#4336133)
also its only about 70 down there....neb is playing very bad right now

Ladies and gentleman, the first overall pick of the 2014 NFL draft, Jadeveon Clowney.
2274. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:06 PM (#4336136)
well i dont think that michigan player is going back in the game
   2275. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:06 PM (#4336137)
Is there any doubt that's a top 10 defensive play, ever in life.
   2276. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:06 PM (#4336138)
i presume michigan got a huge gift due to ref incompetence?
2277. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:06 PM (#4336139)
I cant believe how he just blew through there to get the handoff
   2278. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:07 PM (#4336140)
some Scout dude said Clowney would be the #1 pick in this draft, if he could leave.

Holy ####. Are you not watching the game?????

Also, there is no way that wasn't helmet to helmet on Clowney.
   2280. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:08 PM (#4336142)

i am watching nebraska/georgia

i don't click back and forth
2281. Rickey! trades in sheep and threats Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:08 PM (#4336143)
Huh. Shockingly that facemask against Neb wasn't called.
   2282. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:09 PM (#4336144)
I claim that WR was juggling when he stepped out.

whoooooshhh.
   2284. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:10 PM (#4336146)
this is some ridiculously bad pass defense
2285. odds are meatwad is drunk Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:10 PM (#4336147)
what just happened there? how do they give that up
   2286. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:10 PM (#4336148)
shockingly that block below the waist wasn't called.
   2287. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:10 PM (#4336149)
Harvey,
when you see the replay (do you watch game recaps?), you will laugh your ass off on the measurement/call. I think the spot was short, but the measurement/call was high comedy.
   2288. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:10 PM (#4336150)
why blitz on 3rd and long? that's a horrible risk/reward
   2289. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:12 PM (#4336151)
Also, did you see the end of the Clemson-LSU game? WTF was Les Miles doing? Oh, what Les Miles does. But that was classic clownshoes with 1:45 to go.

'helmet to helmet' isn't flagged on handoffs or any runs between the tackles, there'd be flags nearly every run.

christopher

i stick to watching the big 10 games
   2292. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:15 PM (#4336155)
martinez is a senior, his last game, he is a fine runner.

nebraska should just keep calling his number until he passes out
   2293. Tulo's Fishy Mullet (mrams) Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:18 PM (#4336156)
Harveys in part, the Nebraska pass D was 'good' because the BIG has very few quality passers this season. When T Martinez leads the league in passing eff. for those who qualified, that's a good indicator of the overall weakness in passing in the BIG.
   2294. Harveys Wallbangers Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:19 PM (#4336157)
the replacement right tackle is killing nebraska

Clowny is just amazing
   2298. Mike Webber Posted: January 01, 2013 at 05:24 PM (#4336162)
What will Clowney be at the next level? A pass rushing LB, or a smallish DE?

Michigan takes the lead...

He can get bigger so I see him staying on the line, though a out lb in a 3-4 isnt out of the question
