stanford's pass rush is negated against a team that doesn't pass much
stanford has not exploited the special teams mismatch
stanford should be throwing to their tight ends. that is the weak underbelly of a solid wisconsin defense
accept it and move on
if you can get players to keep to their assignments the 2 guys down and 3 or 4 acting like they will rush but then some or all dropping off would be confusing to a college qb
and a moment hestitation is all you need
the playcalling is the same down to down
oh for heaven's sake
big shock. white gets creamed
this is surreal
kid should have caught it. maybe it gets jarred out
hooray
guy is bad luck today
this forces the offense to stop trying to run out the d8mn clock and try and score
except for when he seemingly became 5'9" and had all those passes batted down
good golly
And now we see why.
DB
EDIT: Cokes all around
and what about play action? it's not like stanford can ignore the run
satisfied? you are speaking gibberish
That and the asinine personal foul on the late fair catch were two momentum shifting bad calls. That sucks, Wisconsin had a great shot to win today and it would have been nice if the refs had not gotten in the way of the game playing out.
Wisconsin has nothing to be ashamed of. They seemed to be dictating the pace of play for a lot of the game.
you are clearly of the mind that because a team has a high ranking they are really good
i didn't see anything in stanford that wowed me save for their punter.
if wisconsin could have executed a forward pass wisconsin wins the game
the wisconsin defense handled the stanford offense the last 3 quarters
There may be a time for that kind of reflection later. But it's not 10 minutes after you lose a tightly contested Rose Bowl. Wisconsin has now lost 3 Rose Bowls in a row, all of which were close games. Wisconsin had some bad close game luck last year, losing both regular season games due to hail marys. This year, they lost 6 games and didn't lose a single game by more than 6 points.
If I were a Wisconsin fan, I'd be frustrated, not satisfied.
this game was there to be won
That's exactly how I would feel. You did a good job summing up why.
maybe they were in other games
they were beatable today
if you are going to tell me two teams that were even in yardage, first downs, time of possession, etc, etc are somehow so inequal in areas not shown on the field or the numbers that one of the teams should have actually won by double digits that is quite the trick
and if stanford is good then wisconsin is good. because they went toe to toe today
gold star, you are a good egg most of the time but man that was one absurd post
Wisconsin from the last two games is a really, really good team. Makes me wonder what happened to wake them up like that.
but they missed a kick, had poor execution at key moments and a tcu linebacker made 3 plays of his life
against oregon wisconsin had the ball plenty but turned it over twice when they had no margin of error and lost by a touchdown
and now this
grumble, grumble
the defense has been there all season. but the kickers are garbage, qb play has been wildly inconsistent and injuries on the offensive line bit them most of the season
For the record, TCU beat Wisconsin fair and square.
They're basically as good as a team without an elite defense and no QB can be.
i know you revel in being contrary and writing outlandish things so will just ignore that nonsense about the tcu/wisconsin matchup
tcu did win as evidenced by the final score
but i guarantee if tcu was playing texas and texas had put it to tcu the way wisconsin took tcu to the woodshed your view would be wildly different
TCU had one of the best defenses in the country, so I don't think it was necessarily a fluke they played well in the red zone.
Part of why I'm picking up the fight for TCU is because I hear the same ######## you're spewing pretty often living in Madison. And the other fact is that whenever legitimately good midmajor teams do well in a BCS game people are always making excuses about it.
Anyone can feel free to mock NIU this year as they have no business being in the BCS.

bielama ran fake punts all the time. it was part of his approach. not done out of desperation as you are alluding to in your post.
and i meant physically. the wisconsin offensive line handled tcu regularly but a combination of missed assignments at key times and that one linebacker making high effort plays short circuited several drives that had to start in tough field position thanks to the tcu punter
i wasn't mocking tcu. only pointing out what was clear in watching the game.
if wisconsin was assignment sure in that game it wins.
me, i just figured that was defense
Wisconsin's offensive line was incredible that year. So that's no surprise. TCU's defense was also undersized, compared to Wisconsin's offensive line. You're also talking about one aspect of the game. Both teams had roughly the same number of first downs. TCU's defense was a lot more than one linebacker making plays. Sorry, I'm just pointing out what was obvious to anyone watching the game.
The main thing people ##### about is the playcalling. TCU struggled with the run right at them. But when Wisconsin ran sideline to sideline it almost always was stopped for little to no gain because of TCU's defense was so fast and they were really good tacklers (though small).
This is what I hear, still, from my UW circle of friends/colleagues. They also say BB and Chryst were arrogant thinking they'd just run over and around little 'ole TCU. The more time passes, the more fans like to blame the departed coaches.
Just finished watching this one on DVR, very conservative 2nd half by both sides. I know Phillips can't throw, but if you want to know why UW has six losses, that's a big part of the answer, thin WR corps and instability to say the least this year at QB.
Agree with whoever said the Punter was player of the game.
This isn't much fun to watch from an FSU fan perspective. If you win, it's because you're expected to win. If you lose, it's considered a disaster. there's no real upside.
That would be cool. Bama is doing a good job of going out and playing quality programs, even if they don't always catch them at their best.
The Los Angeles' Times' Bill Dwyre: "The Wisconsin Badgers slinked out of Pasadena again Tuesday, defeated for the third straight year in the Rose Bowl. The good news was, by now, they certainly know the backroads out of town."
is that really necessary? taking potshots at college kids?
he treats readers like garbage, his writing isn't anything special, he never breaks any news you cannot find elsewhere just as quickly and he covers for the coaches while dumping on the kids repeatedly. he's the epitome of 8sskissing twerp
got that out of the way. thanks.
...just imagine how much more enjoyable everyone would have found a Notre Dame-Northwestern national title bout! Think how much fun folks would have had claiming that the consolation title game between Oregon and Alabama was really the battle of the two best teams in the country.
Any BCS conference undefeated is playing in the title game over any one loss team...
