I thought there was clearly a Sooner across the line at the snap.
Apparently so did he. I missed it and of course, Fox doesn't show replays (even less than ESPN) because they suck.
Edit: Yup, ESPN play by play confirms that OU got 4 Time outs.
Edit: Link for proof.
I note you kept that team's name out of it.
So, I appreciate ordinal rankings a ton.
Denard averaged 120 passing ypg, and 115 rushing ypg.
SoCar avg 145 yds per game, and Lattimore got half of that. The second biggest runner was the QB (who passed for more ypg than Denard). SoCar didn't have a Gardner to step in, so the loss of Lattimore was significantly more troublesome.
And I get 86th and 98th, but I guess my stats include the bowl game.
If you say so. I saw nothing to indicate that was the case, and the TV production had the half ending with A&M in possession of two timeouts. That would certainly explain it, but I don't see how both Fox and ESPN got it wrong.
Today was a difficult game to watch, with your two big rivals playing. I guess that's why I skipped a lot of it.
Recruiting is a weird thing. Nebraska didn't get McNabb, cuz he didn't want to sit bench behind Frazier for two years, Jamal Lewis wanted to play immediately and Carl Crawford wanted to play baseball (smart move). In this case UT didn't woo him as a qb, I assume it was the old come here and play safety?
If he's remembered, it is for scoring on a fake punt last season vs Fla, only to have it called back for taunting before the goal line. Actually he punted very well against just about everybody last season, but particularly @ Bama in the 9-6 game.
He apparently failed multiple drug tests at LSU.
Is there anyone more capable of being mercenary than a punter? Who does he need? A competent long snapper?
A LOOGY.
as a former long snapper, this is critical, although less of an issue at high level football over the years, as snapping has improved by my eye sight over the years.
An Aussie who likes drugs? I'm surprised he bothered with a college team in the first place.
Hot college chicks, come on man, focus.
He was suspended for the Peach Bowl for allegedly failing a drug test and this was not his first suspension at LSU.
I will second that. It was always my favorite road trip when I was in grad school at Bama.
Roll Tide!!
Wow, they've won three titles since then. I didn't realize the 92 squad was that kind of football team too.
Also, a decent MNC drinking game for tonight.
Bama 17, ND 13. I still want ND to win, but I need to pick the right team to win my Bowl Pick'em pool and I've got my points on Bama. I'll believe someone can beat the SEC in this game when it actually happens. Still, I think ND has as good a shot as anyone during the SEC's run.
I am going to taunt you mercilessly when ND scores 17.
Indeed. Same vibe with this game, one of those 'game wasn't as close as the final score indicated.'
of note: most common point total of teams playing in an AP 1 v 2 game, 47 times they've played in the poll era.
24 points has happened 9 times.
16 points has happened 6 times.
14 points has happened 6 times.
0 points has happened 6 times.
62 once
55 once,
2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 11, 25, 26, 30, 33, 36 and 40, 43, 44, 45, 47 and 49. points have never been hit in an AP 1 v 2 game.
Alabama: 27
Notre Dame: 13
Rooting against this.
Our Lady: 10
I agree that Saban with a month to prepare is deadly. Plus Bama destroyed Michigan and Notre Dame struggled to beat Michigan.
Alabama's running game has - more than their defense IMO - been the dominant force over the last 4 or 5 years. But Georgia sucks against the run, and ND does not. Still going to be a tall order for ND. They need sustained drives or their defense is going to be left out to dry.
Cam Newton will be happy to know he isn't considered 'mobile.'
That makes sense since there aren't many, if any, QBs who can run like Manziel (Certainly not Jordan ####### Lynch). I'm guessing Golson's mobility will come into play mostly behind the line on passing downs and on 3rd and shorts. If he can extend plays long enough for Eiffert to get open and maybe pick up a first down or two with his legs, that will be a big deal and help loosen up the Tide's D a bit.
I guess I meant handled in the sense they did not do much damage on the ground (he got 39 yards on 22 carries) and Newton did his carnage in the pocket against Alabama in that game. I have tried to put that game out of my memory, but I don't remember many plays that Newton hit because he extended the play with his feet.
I hope he doesn't run much; the dude only weighs 185 and should not be taking hits. The real risk he poses is that he has a very good arm and can get it down the field on busted plays.
Really hoping to see Notre Dame get crushed mercilessly, though. Nothing personal to any ND fans or well-wishers here, but I grew up hating them and always will.
that is true,if were talking about 'handling' the running portion of guys like him. I recall him getting sacked at least four times in that 1st half (accounts for some hefty negative rushing too.) More than anything, my memory remembers some huge missed tackles and broken Bama defensive assignments which lost that game.
I'll be way more suprised by that type of a ND comeback tonight, than I was by tOSU gaining a mere 82 yards against Florida in Arizona seven years ago.
He'll probably be asleep by 9, but in 30 years he'll be telling his kids about how he stayed up all night and how awesome/heartbreaking it was.
I seem to recall people saying that Pete Carroll was nigh unbeatable with a month to prepare during the runup to the Rose Bowl against Texas.
When you have a month to beat Big Game Bob and the Big Ten, you tend to get that rep as a great bowl game coach.
He was also carrying a 34 game win streak into that game. Saban's is, what, three? The notion that Bama is unbeatable is so out of line with reality. Unfortunately, they are still probably going to win. I wish they were playing Oregon.
My first stay up to the end memory was the '82 Orange Bowl, when Clemson beat Nebraska, I was not quite six. Of course college football is huge in our house and there would be no putting the boys to bed early.
He has school tomorrow and he's very cranky when he doesn't have enough sleep.
Can both teams lose? Or the stadium sink into hell? Because that's the only thing that could make me happy.
Edit: Oh, right, it's a PAC-12 crew. They have been dreadful in every bowl game I have seen them in.
eta: there's no way Alabama doesn't win this game, because the refs simply won't let them. SEC > everyone else!
Would never imagine the irish getting worked over by the refs.
