Alabama Is still Ranked #1.  Will they hold steady to repeat? Make it to the title game?  Or does another team claim the Crystal ball in Miami in January.

What makes you such a prick is that even where you are totally wrong, as you have been often, you don't cop to it. You were a no show and then copped out during and after the UF and LSU losses.

Actually, I just didn't watch those bowls, because they were on ESPN and I don't have cable. Also, you're completely underselling the myriad and multitudinous ways in which I am a prick.

Are any primates actually at this game?
It's kind of tough since there aren't any baseball fans in south Florida I guess. Whatever happened to Black and Teal? Did he go off to college and discover girls or something?

WAC: 2-0 (1.000)

Good for the WAC to go out on top.

Bama's secondary is playing great tonight.

In fairness the Big Ten had two ineligible teams because of coaches who were legends and leaders.

This game has been much more even since Alabama's first play of the 2nd quarter.

I know. Bored now. Score more touchdowns, random SEC school!

ND has outgained tOSU's output vs Florida by 30 yards already, if you were wondering about things like that.

I know a real piece of #### ND fan whose family took a limo to the game. Sadly, they can afford it so I will just have to enjoy knowing that he is hurting tonight.

I went to that Rose Bowl where Nebraska got slammed by the Canes, and I went 'cuz it was the Rose Bowl, no other reason. I expected what I saw and I flew in the day of the game, stayed out all night and flew home very early, I was in LA for less than 24 hours. I got the tix for free for Christmas from Dad, stayed to the end, and paid a reasonable airfare. It can be done on the cheap. The Fiesta trip I did for NU v UF was pretty economical too, pays to have 'college buddies' from Phoenix.

I don't have cable, so I'm "watching" this game on CBSsports.com. It's sort of sad how small the little "yards gained" arrows are for ND.

Game's also on ESPN3.com.

I have a standing agreement with a friend to go to New Orleans if the Falcons play the Ravens in the Superbowl. If that happens, I have no intention of going to the actual game. Seems a waste of drinking time.

What I don't understand is people who hate Notre Dame as if they were some sort of perennial overdog. When was the last time a bandwagon fan chose Notre Dame? 1990? It's like feeling schadenfreude when the 49ers lose.

cfn (collegefootball news) they have a forums message board, separated by conferences. a few conferences rarely have regular posts, it is basically dominated by four leagues. The SEC page can be ok, but gets carried away, so I mainly stick to BIG and XII. We run off trolls, make fun of people who think chili has beans and people who are simply there to poke your eye. Zero religion/politics tolerated, lots of us have been posting for years, and a decent contingent gets together annually at a random game somewhere.

otherwise, it is a cesspool going to nearly every team message board out there.

For example, they could eke out an 12-0 record against a rather pedestrian, overrated schedule and still play for the MNC while Oregon and better teams from stronger conferences play in secondary bowls.

A lot of it is the NBC tv deal.

Funny moment when a Notre Dame fan was complaining about the behavior of the Miami fans to one of my friends in Scottsdale before the Fiesta Bowl. My friend Russ replied, "We played them this year and you are right. You know not one in ten of them have ever been on the Miami campus."

When the guy - who was very nice and I assume a Notre Dame alum - moved on, I asked Russ what percentage of Notre Dame fans he thought had ever been on campus. He didn't realize what he had said, and hadn't meant anything by it, but I thought it was very funny.

My wild-eyed wiry old catholic neighbor only watches Notre Dame, and is extremely insufferable about it (but otherwise you usually want her on your side). And other neighbors growing up were catholic braggarts, who loved to eulogize about Notre Dame (they were good back then). Is that reason enough?

Why does one have to have a good reason anyway? Sometimes it's fun to dislike teams. Makes watching the games more enjoyable. I would say that there are at least 3 or 4 teams in each major sports league that I dislike, mostly for insignificant reasons.

Lee Corso, the Dick Vitale of the gridiron, makes Lou Holtz look and sound like Cris Collinsworth. Pretty amazing for a longtime Indiana football coach to become such an icon.

Anyway, I'm 30 years old. I have a PhD. I didn't follow college football as a kid because the only teams I had a reason to follow were Duke and Temple, so if I had a propensity for college football fandom I would have committed suicide halfway through high school. I have only the barest memory of Lou Holtz being anything other than a clown and/or coaching South Carolina. From here it seems like it's time to put aside the grudges.

I'll pat myself on the back again for calling A&M's win at Bama weeks before it happened.

I am an Alabama fan and I was calling it as well. No back-patting for me though

Alabama is the best team in the country. They were also a classic Les Miles ########### from having 2 losses and playing in the Chik-Fil-A bowl, where they beat Clemson by 30.

Is defense illegal in Indiana? The Irish D looks whipped.

I know this isn't the right answer, but I remember 2004, when the Gophers beat Alabama in a bowl game. Minnesota is yet to capitalize on that win.

Kelly Johnson gets his first touch! This can only help his search for a team after the Blue Jays showed no interest.

Alabama's line has that effect on very good teams. It has even more of that effect on teams like ND. They're huge and they pound you all night long, until you are mush.

Manti T'eo is unbelievably overrated

Those ND guys are just fried, and this is what sam was saying - even if it were 21-10 at the half, the Bama line was just going to wear out the ND defense, and so Saban can just grind and grind, and run up yards, just marching down the field.

So are the SEC defenses just far superior to Notre Dame's defense? OR is it something more?

God I was at that game. Alabama's skill position players probably could not start at Hoover High. We had a good defense though.

Ha. If Mason only had a defense, they should've found there way to Pasadena at least by dumb luck, they had some great offenses. Not sure anyone has ever capitalized on a Music City Bowl win. Whatever capital they had, they lost it in the blocked punt fiasco against UW in '05, or the 38-7 meltdown loss to Leach and TT in '06.

Some Sunbelt team in Saban's first year. ULM? This was my first year really paying attention to the sport, and I remember being puzzled about why everyone was so happy Saban and Bama lost to a Sunbelt team. From my ignorant perspective, they were just another also ran in the SEC West.

Yup, Saban's crash and burn ending in '07, ULM 21-14. I assume people remember the bowl woodshedding they received in NOLA a couple years back.
