'Crucial' away goal there for Bayern!

Now you can pull Lahm and the glorious pigstepper.

I know I probably have to flagellate myself for an hour for saying this, but I really like watching Bayern.

Edit: also why is Gus Johnson completely incapable of saying Iniesta correctly? He's one of the most famous players in the world. It's pronounced like it's spelled. Instead I keep having to wonder who this Ian Esta fellow is.

Who starts if Kroos is healthy for the final?

Final is going to kill me...

Well I guess that 90-14 goal difference and the single loss in the league doesn't say much about the quality of the bundesliga...

So the teams that have beaten Bayern this year in all competitions are just Leverkusen and the mighty BATE Borisov. Arsenal if you count a return leg in a series they lost. Jeez.

So I can't find it confirmed anywhere but it appears to me that neither team has anyone suspended for the final.

The big question mark is Goetze.
   908. ursus arctos Posted: May 01, 2013 at 06:11 PM (#4431078)
If it really is a torn hamstring, it's hard to see him being fully fit in 3 1/2 weeks.

And yes, no suspensions for the final (Sergio Ramos would have been had they gone through).
   909. Spivey Posted: May 01, 2013 at 06:35 PM (#4431122)
With Goetze's odd transfer situation, he's probably the crucial player they can most handle being without.

I'll be rooting for Dortmund but Bayern is playing inspired football. Hard to see them losing unless they're terrible wasteful.

Dortmund's chances in a single game are (I think) significantly higher than they would be over two legs.

Although it shouldn't be, this Final is more about the two teams not in it than the two that are. Sophocles and Co. would appreciate the hubris we've seen in action the past few weeks.

What two teams? Spanish football is dead and buried. They better find a new hobby.

Stop right there. Part of the deal with FIFA that gave the World Cup 94 to the US was a moratorium on Americans complaining about the rules of football. At least it ought to have been.

Ha! This was good.

Though you know we are only getting started.

Robbie Rogers is training with the Galaxy. I wonder if he's going to attempt a comeback? (I don't think the Galaxy will sign him, they're just doing him a favor.)

I wonder; a lot of teams are interested. Chicago owns his rights. I wonder if the players will win a limit on that rule--like the team only retains the rights for a limited time. Herculez Gomez made a point of that--KC still has his rights.
   915. Flynn Posted: May 02, 2013 at 06:43 AM (#4431515)
I'm not entirely surprised. The way Rogers totally ruled out a comeback despite his youth seemed weird. MLS has to be one of the friendliest environments imaginable for a gay player and the US needs fullbacks enough that he might have a shot at 2014.

Garreth Bale, your PFA, PFA Young Player and Football Writers player of the year. Wales!

More importantly, May thread should be up soon.

BTW: The voting for the Writers award went Bale-RVP-Mata.
