Ozzie Guillen rips Buster Olney on Twitter

This will surely take pressure off his team and motivate them!!!

Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen returned to Twitter earlier this month after taking a few months off. It didn’t take him long to create some controversy.

After the Marlins defeated the Reds 4-0 last night behind an excellent pitching performance by rookie Jacob Turner, Guillen unleashed the following Tweets in the direction of ESPN’s Buster Olney. This is a family-friendly blog, so I had to make a pretty key edit.

“buster olney u so full a (expletive) whit u stupid comments about the miami team we still play hard we yes no win games i think u no watch.”

“i think u no watch our games if u say iam bad manager is ok but u ever say my team give up”

What does Trippin' Olney think of this?

OZZIE IS RIGHT, I DON'T WATCH A LOT OF MARLINS GAMES. I'M TOO BUSY COVERING PLAYOFF CONTENDERS.

The 140-character limit turns Ozzie Guillen into Chico Marx. I almost expect to see him tweet, "Atsa no good."

#2 is that real? that is awesome

I think Mr. Keefe needs to come to Guillen's defense here.

"Gentlemen, Ozzie Guillen may talk like an idiot, and look like an idiot, but don't let that fool you -- he really is an idiot."

There you go. I'm surprised that Ozzie is the one being attacked here, it's Buster Olney he's talking about. The guy invented productive outs.(or at least ceaselessly championed them)

The Marlins need to keep Ozzie if only for entertainment value. May his Twitter device never run out of juice.

C'mon, give Buster a break. He may not be much of a sabremetrician, but he still brings a lot to the table: (1) he's one of the top guys for breaking baseball news (probably #2 after Robothal); (2) he's a pretty good prose writer; (3) he seems to have a genuine liking for the game and an interest in understanding it better, even if this sometimes leads him down blind alleys like productive outs; (4) he's not an ####### (or at least doesn't come across as one in print). I don't think he deserves the scorn that gets heaped on him here (unlike guys like CHB, Marriotti and Simers, who fully deserve it).

Ozzie, on the other hand, is just nuts. Albeit in an entertaining way, as long as he's managing someone else's team.

I say we give Ozzie ten years in Levenworth or eleven years in Twelveworth.

I wouldn't belong to a club team that would have me Ozzie as a member manager.

Remember, Marlins, you're fighting for this man's honor, which is probably more than he ever did.

At least Ozzies crazy and the blandness of the team have finally overshadowed his love of communism.

You missed the days when he had thinly veiled contempt for Rob Neyer at ESPN then. The guy is a grade one douche bag. His baseball knowledge since he went to ESPN has disintegrated, only reason he gets a story is he's one of maybe 5 people writing that is actually receiving a paycheck from a real news outlet(to the extent that ESPN is a news outlet) His insistence that making outs is good baseball is just sad.

I had no idea where that was from so I had to do a search for it, and I found:

Dumont (kittenish after Groucho steals a peck): You make me think of my youth.
Groucho: Really? He must be a big boy by now.

That made me laugh harder than anything else recently. I must watch Duck Soup sometime.

Managing for the Marlins... Managing for the Marlins... the beginning of the end... drab, dead yesterdays shutting out beautiful tomorrows... hideous, stumbling footsteps creaking along the misty corridors of time... and in those corridors I see figures... straaange figures... weeeird figures: Buehrle 56, Bell 21, Zambrano 38.

(I know it's a Groucho line, but it fits so damn well!)

Ozzie's only half crazy, so can he manage till the All-Star break?
