Palm Beach Post: Familiar questions face Marlins

About 15,000 fans attended [FanFest] and 23,000 individual game tickets were sold Saturday, according to the Marlins.

[John] Shields, who has attended every Marlins opener since 1993, was second in line. “I had to come down,’’ he said. “It’s a way to christen in the new season.’‘

And it was the only time of the year that left-fielder Josh Willingham served donuts to fans waiting in line.
...
“I’m going to (let) them have a little goatee, no beards but nice and trim,’’ [Freddi Gonzalez] said. “I know some of the guys are walking around here with beards.. If you see any of them, let them know.’‘

Some fans did just that, warning pitcher Sergio Mitre, who wore a thick Grizzly Adams beard.

“I haven’t shaved since the season was over,’’ Mitre said. “Guess I’ll have to shave it.’’
...
The Marlins announced a Super Saturdays series in which they’ll host at least seven post-game concerts.

Nadia Turner and American Idol finalists will perform April 7, Cheap Trick on April 21, Kansas on May 5, El Gran Combo on May 28, Gloria Gaynor and Tavares on June 9, Jo Dee Messina on June 23 and Joan Jett on June 30.

I don’t think there’s anywhere Cheap Trick won’t play… due to their close proximity to the WI state line, I think they’ve played pretty much every Wisconsin bowling alley and bar there is at some point or another…

Bands are good. Not dumping on your fans is good too. I'd rather have the latter but, hey, I'm not that into music.
