Palm Beach Post: Home runs, Pfister haunt Marlins

True story: At least two pairs of Marlins players are sharing a room in Milwaukee because of their fear of ghosts. The Pfister Hotel is famous for its ghost stories and paranormal activity. And stories of other baseball players’ ghostly encounters there have made there way around clubhouses.

When he was with the Dodgers, Seattle slugger Adrian Beltre once slept with a bat for protection after he said he had a brush with a ghost in his room at the Pfister.

Note to Adrian: A bat won’t hurt ghosts.

Wonder if the bat was blessed by Pedro Cerrano?

Especially whatever bat he's using this year.

Sez you. I sleep with a bat every night and not once have I ever been visited by ghosts.* If that's not proof that ghosts are afraid of baseball bats, I don't know what is.

* Nor, for some strange reason, have I been visited by women.

At least it's better that a Pfister haunts the Marlins than, well, you know, the alternative.

Nolan Ryan used to talk about how the Pfister was haunted, apparently not enough to keep him from No. 300.

A bat would keep the Pfisters away.
