Panda pitching alert! Sandoval fires perfect 9th

Sandoval, a third baseman, pitched a perfect ninth inning, inducing ground balls from Max Muncy to second base, Yasmani Grandal to third base and Chris Taylor to shortstop. Sandoval’s four-seam fastball hit 88 mph, per Statcastâ„¢. He also threw five curveballs (ranging from 68.9 mph to 71.6 mph). He got one swinging strike in his appearance, coming on a curveball to Taylor on an 0-1 count.

The Dodgers got shutdown by Pablo Sandoval. At least they still won the game.

Since Sandoval signed with the Red Sox before the 2015 season:

Paid $52.8 million combined for the 2015-2017 seasons
Will make another $42.2 million combined in 2018, 2019, and his 2020 buyout.

Since signing that contract, his production:
227 Games
833 PAs
773 ABs
20 HRs
86 RBIs
46/143 BB/K
.234/.282/.365/.647
OPS+ of 71

How is this not one of the, say, 10 worst non-pitcher contracts in MLB history?!

In fairness who could've expected that the guy who had a tough time keeping in shape when he was making the league minimum would put on 30 pounds after signing a 9 figure deal?
