Paranormal presence haunts home of Iowa baseball players

Every night when he got ready to go to bed, Hawkeye baseball player Trevor Kenyon usually left his TV on the Big Ten Network. One night, he decided to fall asleep to FX.

When he returned to his room after brushing his teeth, he discovered his TV had been changed to BTN. Kenyon turned the TV off and put the remote on the floor next to his bed. When he rolled over, he discovered the remote next to him on the pillow. After that, Kenyon turned the TV back on to BTN and let “Tim” watch sports as he fell asleep.

Kenyon, along with five other members of the Iowa baseball team and one club hockey player, recently learned they might not be the only ones living in their house on North Dubuque Street. A local paranormal-investigating task force claims to have confirmed the residents have two spirits in their house. One, an older, grandfatherly figure — whom the guys have named “Tim” — roams the halls and rooms of the three-story house. Another, a younger girl, stays put in one particular room of the house.

I wished I believed in the paranormal as this would be a really cool story if I did.

Sorta the same thing as time travelers - if it was possible where are they? - if ghosts existed, where are the videos of them? Everyone and their brother has a phone with camera by now.

I'm waiting for this Big Ten Network poltergeist to begin haunting some Maryland baseball players.

No, it doesn't.

The paranormal disrupts electronics and such. You can't video beyond the veil. That's just the way the afterlife works.

I wish ghosts existed, so I could blame ghosts for everything I do.

"Drink all the beer? That wasn't me, my grandfather was here. He also is the one that didn't take out the trash."

And on two separate occasions, girlfriends of players have had underwear removed from them while sleeping, even though they were wearing pants. Each time, the undergarments were discovered in another place.

They were covered with a strange white fluid - possibly ectoplasm.

It's the ghosts of all the dead players from the field of dreams.

As BTF's resident poltergeist, I object to the snark being spewed here.

I thought that was if your mom and dad never do the horizontal mambo. (Or kiss at the under the sea dance in a PG rated terms)

This reminds me of the time I bought a haunted sponge at Safeway and they wouldn't take it back.

Trevor Kenyon's brother, Zach, is a poster child for taking the best offer you can get if you are drafted out of high school. Zach was a 9th rounder of the Royals in 2007 and turned down $300,000 to go to Iowa where he posted a 6.50 ERA in 4 years as spot starter/reliever. He never played professional baseball, not even indy ball.

Incomplete story. Did he graduate? What degree did he get? Did he get a job? What is that job paying him? How much pay difference does that work out to, over him taking the 300k, going to the majors and wasting 6 years in the minors while making the minor league wages?

My lone brush with baseball and the paranormal: I'm a Phillies fan, and recorded Game 6 of the 1993 World Series on my VHS player. I swear that no matter where on the tape I stopped watching, whenever I started up the cassette it would begin with Mitch Williams letting go of the year's final pitch to Mr. Carter.

He could have taken the 300k and wasted a mere 2 or 3 years in the minors if he pitched as badly as he did at college.

Just like Bigfoot, they are shy and elusive. Unlike Bigfoot, they don't have corpses to hide, though maybe Bigfoot is like a vampire and turns to ash when dead.
