PB Post: Olsen: My future not up to Samson

“They got little voices
Goin’ peep, peep, peep”

Scott Olsen said he expects to pitch for the Marlins next season, even though team President David Samson has said the left-hander won’t be welcome back if he is convicted of felony charges stemming from his arrest in July.

“Well, he really doesn’t control who comes and who goes, does he?’’ Olsen said of Samson on Sunday. “As far as I’m concerned it’s the general manager, assistant general manager and owner who do that.

“The team president, I don’t know what the hell he does. He tries to find a stadium. I don’t think he actually has a top hand in the on-field personnel. I think that’s (GM Larry) Beinfest and (assistant GM Mike) Hill and (owner Jeffrey) Loria way before him.’‘

That Scott Olsen. He is so colorful!

Watch yourself, Scott. Sampson finished the Ironman this year - he can probably take you out.

There's nothing like insulting the team president to show how contrite you are; Scott must have been attending the Pete Rose School of Public Relations.

Wow. I don't expect baseball players to be intelligent, but you'd think there'd be some measure of common sense at least. Unless Scott feels he'd be better off trying to find another team to put up with him, he's pretty stupid. And if he thinks he'll be better off with the few teams that will want to hire him still, then he's a gambling man to say the least.

Memo to Scott: Your boss' boss can decide if you come back to the team, if he so chooses.

Edit: Career ERA of 4.80, pitching in a pitcher's park. Insults his boss, gets arrested for other things. Yeah, that'll keep him in demand.

I don't know, if Samson were my team's president I'd be inclined to unflattering remarks about him as well. I kinda dig Olsen, but he needs to knock off the drinking and driving. Other than that, I don't mind his angry, young man persona at all. If the Marlins really want to get rid of him, I hope he ends up in Oakland.

RB: [looks at ballot information] Hmm...I don't agree with his drunk-driving policy, but I do approve of his Samson-knocking policy. [votes for Olson]

:)

Yep, that's about right.

With all the characters they've got and the storylines surrounding them, the Marlins should be an HBO series, sort of the baseball equivalent of "First & Ten."

Who plays Samson? Warwick Davis?

Scott Olsen has never been the brightest bulb in the box.

There will always be a home for him with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Verne Troyer.

That's what I said yesterday.

And I'll say it again :

"Loria continues to be one of the most despicable man in baseball, the worst being David Samson, obviously."

Bravo to Scott Olsen!!!

Now y'all know why I like Repoz so much.

Samson's role when not alienating communities with his Trick or Treat schtick is this: "Now let me make sure we've got this right ... one with cream, two black, two double-double and a latte--right?"

I swear to God (in a Repoz thread? Perish the thought!) I wish the man would do something useful with his life. There are mines fields throughout Bosnia without maps, there is a man who needs a real job--do the math.

Best Regards

John

It's common knowledge that Samson is Loria's stepchild, right? I haven't seen a reference in some time in stories re. the Marlins, and certainly Olsen isn't aware, else he'd know that Samson would have the owner's ear regardless of whatever title he had bestowed upon him.

I've seen a series of articles in which Samson comes off, as usual, like a braying jackass, and I'd think his ties to Jeffrey would be worth mentioning, if only to allow readers to infer why this dolt occupies a high ranking position with a MLB club.
