Pioneer Press: Hunter, Morneau plan to apologize

“His is the Hand that wounds.
His is the Hand that heals.”

Torii Hunter and Justin Morneau say they want to put an end to their rift this weekend.

Four months after two of the Twins’ key players engaged in a heated argument and almost brawled in the Metrodome clubhouse, leaving in question whether they could co-exist, Hunter and Morneau arrived for TwinsFest on Friday each intending to exchange apologies.

“I’m definitely going to tell him: ‘Forgive me for what I did,’ ” said Hunter, who tried to punch Morneau in the clubhouse after they argued in the dugout during the last week of the season. “If he does, we can move on and have a good relationship.”

I blame AJ Pierzynski

It's too bad, Morneau needed a fire lit under his ass. Now he's going to go back to being all placidly Canadian. They could have been Bonds and Kent...

I love how Morneau also plans to apologize for lying about crashing his motorcycle.

I read the article....they must have editted out the passages where Gardenhire blamed Cuddyer and Ford.

No, no, no. It was all Bartlett's fault. For punishment, he will be placed behind Juan Castro and Nick Punto on the SS depth chart.

Memo to Torii: Forgiveness is best asked for, rather than declared or demanded. Try that, results might improve.

Justin's bodily movements are definitely robot-like.

What is the point of posting that?

Because that's what he's thinking? What's the point of half the comments on this site?

This is as good a place as any to point out that at TwinsFest today, Justin Morneau spotted my fiancee and had another nice long conversation with her. In fact, he even commented her on her haircut and how it looks better than the last time he had seen her (which was Spring Training).

He also congratulated her on the engagement, so that is definitely a good thing.

He's angling to provide the bachelorette party entertainment.

Were you there to witness that, or is that just the version of the story she told you?

Just the version I received, of course.

Ah, you're a very trusting man, Will.

There's an update to the story, saying that Morneau & Hunter met and talked. Hunter's comments:

We're together every day, and you're bound to disagree on something. It's about making up and we made up. It's like a marriage. Well, not like a marriage."

For a second, Torii made it sound like getting mad and taking a swing at your wife and then apologizing is what a marriage is about....luckily he corrected himself.

I don't think Hunter meant that he was going to demand forgiveness. I don't think he meant by saying "I'm going to tell him...etc etc" that it was a demand, but, rather, he was simply letting people know that he was going to say "Forgive me." If, in the proper context, someone came up to you and said "Forgive me", would you interpret that as a demand?

Geez, I just read the article, and how anyone could read it and come away with the opinion that these two aren't going to be slobbering all over each other when they finally meet is beyond me. They're going to need sawdust thrown at their feet.
