Pirates: MLB’s Mark Bowman is a liar?

So, does MLB.com have liars working for them?  Is Bowman’s story a fabrication?

Or, are the Pittsburgh Pirates so out of it one hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing and their response has now tarnished a writer’s good name?

Or, perhaps this is nothing more than a Post-Gazette Pirates beat writer trying to protect his own credibility since he got beat to the draw, if Bowman is accurate?  And, did the Post-Gazette beat writer contact a valid source within the Pirates who would even have direct knowledge?  I mean, “high-level source” within the Pirates could mean anything.

It’s MLB.com’s turn to respond to their credibility beatdown.

Time for a good old fashion fist fight?

The near-comatostic MLB.com involved in a controversy?

Since Holtzman's passing...the place must be going crazy! Look for curse-word Friday's coming up!

Hey, it's Jake's blog! And look, he's put together a senationalistic hatchet job about Dejan! Again!

Standard reminder for everyone in BBTF-ville: if Jake says that the sun came up this morning, look out your window and check.

Unfortunately, the same goes for Mark Bowman. Everything he says should be taken with a bucket or two of salt. Back to square one.

At some point last night, Jake's story was that Coonelly is an owner, because he represents the owners. Odd that it seems to have changed. It is great of Jake to attack Dejan's generic source, when the mlb.com story contained no source whatsoever.

Motivations of Jake, Bowman, and Dejan aside, it is rare to see one news organization go to print with an attack on another news organization's writer. The message could have been softened up since these people live and die by their credibility.

"The message could have been softened up since these people live and die by their credibility."

If he lives and dies by his credibility, then maybe he should work a little harder at not being wrong.

Re: #6:

Yes, Jake/Sunny/4bricksshyofaload might enhance his credibility the next time he gets something right.

I'm missing the big story here.

One reporter gets a scoop about a deal. Another news outlet reports team denies facts of initial report. No one's alleging anything except inaccuracy, which seems to be the norm for MLB trade rumors.

Isn't this all fairly routine?

When a story quotes an unnamed "high-level source," I always assume it's a mailroom clerk smoking a joint in the parking lot.

Jake/Sunny/4bricksshyofaload smearing Dejan Kovacevic is also common enough.

Bowman's story may not be a fabrication, it could be that some Braves did expect to get Bay and they told that to Bowman.

But it may have just been wishful thinking on the parts of that player or players.

Jake has noticed a lot of things that Dejan has written incorrectly, I think he notices those and exaggerates them because he is jealous. While he is a scout (rookie bird dog) he really would rather be a beat reporter or Ken Rosenthal.

I give him credit for writing everyday, even when he doesn't see or hear the games!
