10 years later, sweet revenge. Maybe Cano can hit a foul ball that will hit Curt Schilling in the head in the stands, leaving him with permanent brain damage that renders him permanently unable to speak.

Now that would be anticlimactic.
Naw, I kid.
Detroit over Philly in 6.
Yeah, I'm always torn between picking the thing I'm rooting for and the thing I find most likely. I don't care a great deal about any of these teams, and it's not like I'm betting or anything, so I'll just pick rooting interests (mild though they are) here.

I think there had to have been another, too.
And that's what I'm sticking with.

Phillies over Cardinals 3-0
Brewers over Arizona 3-0
Tigers over Rangers 4-1
Phillies over Brewers 4-3
Phillies over Tigers 4-2
My specific prediction is that the Phillies/Brewers series is easily the best of the bunch. Milwaukee's power-hitting offense seems like the best weapon you can have against that Phillie pitching.
Tex over TB 3-2
Phi over Stl 3-1
Az over Mil 3-2
Tex over Det 4-2

I expect these predictions to be at least as accurate as my preseason wildcard predictions.
as for my prediction, i guess i'll go with more than half of ESPN's baseball analysts picking the cardinals to advance to the NLDS, only to see them get swept like the dying, choking dogs they are.

The NYY's will either fail to take the WS or I will win about 1100-1500 clamato's.

Do I really want the Rays to win the Series? I didn't think I did, but given the alternatives, I guess I do. Actually the Rangers would be okay too.
Texas in four over Tampa Bay
St. Louis in four over Philadelphia
Arizona in four over Milwaukee
Texas in seven over Yankees
Arizona in five over St. Louis
Arizona in six over Texas
This isn't what I want to happen, but I got a feeling that Tampa's spent, the Yankees will at least make the ALCS and that this is Arizona's year.

Number of games garnered from the tone of the response. I assumed for instance that "Yes. Definitely." meant a shorter series than "It is decidedly so."
Would bet on PHI over DET in 5 or so.
Rays in 5
Brewers in 4
Phillies in 3
Yankees in 6
Brewers in 7
Yankees in 4
Actually not an upset, BPro gives this result a 99.97% probability.
Rangers over Rays
Phillies over Cardinals
Brewers over D'backs
Tigers over Rangers
Phillies over Brewers
Phils over Tigers.
It'll be the lowest-rated World Series ever, but Phils over Tigers.
You were actually pretty close.
Rangers over Rays in 4
Phillies over Cardinals in 3

Pujols prediction for fun: Re-signs w/ Cardinals, 8 years, AAV 27.5
NLDS: Phillies over Cardinals, 3-0; Brewers over Diamondbacks, 3-2
ALCS: Rangers over Yankees 4-3
NLCS: Phillies over Brewers, 4-2
WS: Rangers over Phillies, 4-2 (MVP: Michael Young)
Texas in 4
Philadelphia in 5
Milwaukee in 5
Texas takes Detroit in 6
Philly takes Milwaukee in 5
Texas wins WS in 5 games with Neftali Feliz's 4 saves earning him MVP
Now that would be anticlimactic.
Would that be the worst thing in the world? After last night's wildness, I am already worn down to a nub.
Tampa Bay at Texas 1-3
Texas at New York 2-4
St. Louis at Philadelphia 1-3
Milwaukee at Arizona 3-0
Milwaukee at Phila 2-4
New York at Phila 2-4
With the caveat that I stink at prognostication
That would be great fun
TEX 3, TB 2
PHI 3, STL 0
MIL 3, ARI 2
NYY 4, TEX 3
PHI 4, MIL 1
PHI 4, NYY 3
Bonus prediction: the Tampa-St. Pete area will continue to embarrass itself with its tradition of not coming close to selling out their playoff games.
Second to worst attendance for the season in all of baseball (under 19k per game) despite having had a very good team for four seasons now. The situation down there is just beyond pathetic.

The red @ass Cards vs. Beach Bum Brewers?
Even the announcers dislike one another
A Rays-Diamondbacks Series (the two youngest franchises in MLB, if you look at the Nationals as the refashioned Expos) would likely be the lowest-rated Series ever, since neither has a substantial constituency. (Heck, with both located in spring training hotbeds, each have trouble dominating their home markets.)
I think this would be best for America, even if the east coast doesn't realize it yet.
we still have yet to have a World Series with out at least one 'original' team.

TBR 4 - PHI 2
The 2006 Detroit-St Louis World Series was the lowest rated series at the time (though the 2008, Phillies-Rays and 2010-Giants and Rays have since been lower).

CC returns to NYY for 5 yrs.
I missed the entire Giants-Rays series last year it seems. ;)
(based on the FLNRSA Index, a proprietary measure factoring in team payroll, median time of games, and stylishness of uniforms):
DIVISION SERIES
Tigers over Yankees
Rangers over Rays
D'Backs over Brewers
Cards over Phillies
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Rangers over Tigers
D'Backs over Cards
WORLD SERIES
D'Backs over Rangers
Yeah, it's not surprising that based on the TBS timeslots, in order of network preference, it seems to be:
DET/NYY
STL/PHI
TEX/TB
ARI/MIL
Texas 3, Tampa Bay 1
Philadelphia 3, St Louis 2
Milwaukee 3, Arizona 1

Et tu brute?
You wound me
That's a funny kind of tournament you have going on there!
Yankees over Tigers (Dull-as-dishwater sweep)
Rays over Rangers (Hard-fought, lots of extra innings)
Brewers over Diamondbacks (Five close games, but remembered as a rout)
Phillies over Cards (TLR deathwatch, Carp is great)
LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES
Rays over Yankees (Jorge catches more than one inning, AJ & Bartolo start games 4 & 6, lots of second-guessing)
Brewers over Phillies (in 7, Roy throws a perfecto)
WORLD SERIES
Brewers over Rays (in six, great games, lousy ratings)
Heh. I told SoSH and bunyon in an email that my ROOTING preference is Milwaukee/Tampa Bay-- with the Brew Crew prevailing, of course.
Rangers 3, Rays 1
Brewers 3, D'Backs 1
Phillies 3, Cards 0
Tigers 4, Rangers 2
Phillies 4, Brewers 2
Phillies 4, Tigers 2
Tigers over Yankees 3-2
Phillies over Cardinals 3-0
Brewers over D-Backs 3-1
Rays over Tigers 4-3
Brewers over Phillies 4-2
Rays over Brewers 4-3
Would people be interested in a BTF playoff pool? $5 for entry, the pot goes half to the winner and half to the Jim to help upkeep the site?
We could set up a thread for final predictions.
You mean except for post 3?
Upkeep? -cough-
Anyhow, i'd be in.
Tigers over Yankees, 3-2
Phillies over Cardinals, 3-0
Brewers over Diamondbacks, 3-1
Rangers over Tigers, 4-3
Phillies over Brewers, 4-1
Phillies over Rangers, 4-0
The Phillies pitching just looks too strong for anyone to do anything against it.
I give the Brewers a game because Fielder/Braun should win one game by themselves.
My rooting interest order is:
Phillies (go Halladay!)
Diamondbacks (Hill, Overbay, McDonald, Roberts...go ex-Jays!)
...
Brewers (I want to see a Prince Fielder walk-off celebration)
Rays (Young kids win big and cap off amazing comeback)
Tigers (Verlander's amazing season topped off with a perfect game)
...
Cardinals (Pujols wins, and Cardinals forced to pay through the nose for him)
Rangers (meh)
...
Yankees (Posada walk-off home run for final Yankee at-bat would be nice.)
Sweet, there's a $10 pot.
Rays over Rangers in 5 (my gutsy pick!)
Phillies over Cardinals in 4
Brewers over the D'Backs in 4
Yankees over Rays in 5
Phillies over Brewers in 6
Phillies over Yankees in 6
Rays over Rangers in 4
Yanks over Tigers in 4
Phillies over Cards in 4

Yanks over Rays in 6
Phillies over Dbacks in 5

I was going for bold... or drunk. Or for not having slept in about 40 hours or so, it gets hard to keep those things seperated. And you didn't even point out I had Detroit losing both ALDSs.
Anyway, lets try again:
NYY 3 - DET 1
TBR 3 - TEX 2
PHI 3 - STL 1
MIL 3 - ARI 2
TBR 4 - NYY 2
PHI 4 - MIL 0
TBR 4 - PHI 2
