Primates on Twitter

Nobody’s put together a list for the BTF Wiki, so I thought I’d get the ball rolling with the primates that I know that are on Twitter. Please feel free to add yours - I’m always finding that I’m missing people that I should be following.

Undoubtedly there are more out there that I don’t know about and I don’t always remember who reads and hangs out on BTF and who doesn’t (complicated by the issue of different handles).

This isn’t really a list of “what baseball guys should I follow” so much as just getting the Primate tweeters in one convenient list.

UPDATE: Please be sure to update your Twitter and Facebook links in your member profiles. The field has been there for a while and hundreds of Primates have already entered the info. Jim

I go in odd patterns: sometimes I write nothing, other times a lot, sometimes a lot but nothing to do with baseball. And sometimes I just shout out nothing but anti-Yankee vitriol. In other words, it's just what I do here, in Twitter form.

I hardly ever tweet about baseball... usually cycling, film, and beer, and usually in response to other people that I follow... so I recommend that you do not follow @scott1064. It would likely not be very interesting, though it would also not clog up your timeline, as I say very little.... so there is that.

I was a twitter skeptic at the start, too, but it can be a lot of fun - Cliff Lee Signing Night was hilarious.

Nobody's using a #BBTF hashtag. I checked assuming something weird or dirty would come up (it sounds like one of those craigslist acronyms), but so far it's just some guy from Thailand using it.

I also recommend @TracyRingolsby, if you're not already following him. In addition to coverage of MLB and the Rockies, he'll also throw in the occasional tweet on Pro Rodeo. Bet you don't get that from Craig Calcaterra!

They block it at work (along with just about every other site in the universe) so I don't use it anymore. I've gone old school at work recently. Been using my downtime to write my memoirs. My wife wants to know about what I was like in my twenties and I find it easier to write about myself than talk about myself.

I've never used Twitter. Or Facebook. Haven't figured out how to navigate the BTF lounge. I did finally send a (very brief) text message recently from the Blackberry that my boss insists I have. I think maybe I am stubborn and resistant to change.

Thanks. We'll see where this goes. I've got about ten pages of material so far. One good sign is that one of my more popular pieces was a short roman a clef about an incident in my Army days. It's different than writing about baseball or other sports. I can't go to a website to look this stuff up, but I can't surf as much as I used to anyways. Been busy, but I still have down time like when the compter is uncooperative or I am on hold. While on hold, it looks like I'm taking notes.

I still haven't figured out how folks wasted time at work before computers.

I'm @cheer. Which I thought would be cool, as my email address at various companies always used to end up being "cheer@blah.com." So I figured @cheer fit perfectly.

Except. I now find myself getting followed by assorted teenage girls who, evidently, think my twitter feed is about something else altogether. I honestly never saw that coming, and I can't help but think this won't end well for me.

Anyway, I go through phases where I tweet a lot, then don't tweet for weeks. More about the Cubs than anything else, although you just never know.
