Primer Dugout (and link of the day) 10-13-2017

Albuquerque Evening Herald, October 13, 1917:

In one of the stormiest games ever played in a world’s series campaign, the Chicago White Sox came from behind today when defeat stared them in the face and beat the New York Giants by a score of 8 to 5...Salee [sic], the Giants’ twirler, held the Chicagos well in hand until the sixth inning and from there on they batted him to all parts of the field. Both teams fielded wretchedly at times.

There were nine total errors in this game, five of which were committed by Buck Weaver, Chick Gandil, and Lefty Williams. I’m not sayin’ anything. I’m just sayin’.

With the win, the White Sox took a 3-2 series lead.

I had always seen Lou Clinton referred to as "Lu," like this. I looked him up and found that his full name was Luciean Louis Clinton. So Lou and Lu are both correct, depending on which name you're abbreviating.

He should have gone by Clean Lou Clinton.

LA's public transportation system is getting into the NLCS spirit.

Take the Dodger Stadium Express to beat traffic/bear witness to start of the @Cubs next 108-year streak of sadness.

Further proof that Joey Votto is the best

Herbert died on Oct. 6 after two years of battling neuroblastoma. On Thursday night, according to WLWT-TV, Votto was among the hundreds of mourners who paid his respects to the family during a visitation. A family friend told the TV news station that Votto refused an offer to move to the front of the long line and waited his turn. He also brought flowers for Herbert's parents.
