Primer Dugout (and link of the day) 10-31-2012

Salt Lake Tribune, October 31, 1912:

Thomas J. Lynch, president of the National league, does not agree with Horace Fogel, president of the Philadelphia club, that the league has no jurisdiction in the matter of investigating Fogel’s alleged statements [that league umpires conspired to hand New York the pennant].

In a statement tonight Lynch says…that if it is proved Fogel made the assertions attributed to him, he may be punished even to the extent of barring him from further participation in the National league’s affairs.

...and that’s exactly what ended up happening.

Nice collection of position players on today's Birthday Team. Pretty good ace starter too, though it's fairly quickly downhill from there.

The ownership? That leaves something to be desired.

I'm not familiar with Max Soriano. Care to share the dirt?

The birthday team will play for one year, file bankruptcy, and Bud Selig will take over. It will lead to a great book though.
