Milwaukee Journal, November 25, 1944:

Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, commissioner of baseball since 1921, died at St. Luke’s hospital Saturday morning at 5:35.  He was 78 years old.

Landis, a gruff speaking old man with shaggy white hair, battered hat and keen wit, became a legend in his lifetime.  He was noted for his fairness and as a man who always gave the underdog a break.

Unless they had too much melanin.  In which case they were screwed.

In all seriousness, though, the linked article is an excellent obituary.

Today's birthday team has an excellent CF, a solid 1B, a decent quarterback, and not much else:

Some sources list Freddy Parent's birthday as November 25, some list it as November 11. Parent would start ahead of Dent if eligible for today's team.

Note that article to the right of the Landis at the very top, the one about the wife of the soldier that wanted him to have a baby by another woman, who is also a soldier. Then there's the "duck the oyster" dance one.

Not to mention the single sentence on page 3 that confirms that Hub Zemke was a German POW, almost a month after he had been shot down. Zemke was one of the finest American fighter pilots of WW2, not only for his own flying skills (he was an ace with 17.75 kills), but for his sterling leadership and development of tactics as commander of the 56th Fighter Group, the premier P-47 Thunderbolt unit of the war.

If you actually want to PLAY the games, then Diamond Mind is a fine choice.
If you're more into being the General Manager, then OOTP is probably a better choice.
