Baseball Primer Newsblog— The Best News Links from the Baseball Newsstand

Toledo News-Bee, February 22, 1913: Jack Lewis, the St. Paul and Milwaukee utility infielder, thinks the girls have a lot to do with the failure of young ball players in the national game:
“The players get away from home and they think they must get acquainted with every girl that looks at them and the result is they are paying more attention to them than to the game of baseball…I have seen youngsters, and not always the youngsters, either, sit on the bench and look as though they have a great load on their minds, thinking of girls. I have seen them warming up on the field, and watching the stands all the time, looking for girls. It’s girls all the time with them.”
Girls. All they really want is girls. And in the morning, it’s girls. ‘Cause in the evening, it’s girls.

##### Tebeau may be the only player in MLB history whose name gets nannied, though if the nanny spoke Yiddish, J.J. Putz would be J.J. #####.
Big Lena Dunham fans, were they?
Plus, Primey for the Beasties reference.
Jimmy Dykes used to get nannied.
KCKCC? (KCKCJC when I was growing up.)
At least they weren't passing them their phone number.
