Manager Griffith does not intend to have any games postponed this year because of wet grounds. At the least sign of wet weather a huge canvas cover will be spread over the diamond. “Doubleheaders are bad things,” says the Old Fox, “and I’m going to try and have as few as possible.”

Mets are close to signing 39 year old LHP CJ Nitkowski to a minor league deal. Nitkowski last pitched in the big leagues in 2005. He was in Korea in 2009-2010 and did not pitch last year.

I don't think I'd ever heard of Marty McManus before...and he was pretty good, like you said, solid. That'll teach him never to have played in the postseason.
