Baseball Primer Newsblog— The Best News Links from the Baseball Newsstand

[Columbia, MO] University Missourian, April 11, 1912: A game replete with sensational twirling, hard hitting and clever fielding between the Stephensville Stars and Christianburg Cubs yesterday came to an end in the third inning when Catcher Hamper of the Stars, nettled by what she considered an unfair decision of the specially imported umpire, tore off his long whiskers. These proved to be false and when the Stars recognized in the Umps the personage of Papa Moss, an avowed Cub supporter, a wild scene ensued. Long pent up feelings were given voice, enough hair was disconnected from its moorings to start a mattress factory, and unuttered oaths filled the air.
Hey! It’s Enrico Palazzo!

Four guys who played for the Mets that day later became managers - three of whom would each manage over 1,000 games in their respective dugout careers. Can you name any of them? You can click on the link above for the answers (the answers are in the third-to-last paragraph before the day-versaries section).
And he would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling kids!
It was just p!ssing rain the whole time over here in SF; I was so sure it'd be cancelled I didn't even check the game on TV.
