Molitor came up as a shortstop, but the Brewers already had one. He may have stayed at short if Dud Lee was his competition.

Aptly named. He put up that -3.6 WAR in only 852 PA, so -2.7 WAR per 650.

Is there anyone worse than that on a rate basis, with say >250 PA? Not sure I can do that in PI.

Bob Speake played either 47 or 51 games at first base (BR gives both numbers in different places). I'd switch him and Yaz, because Yaz won seven Gold Gloves aa an outfielder, and I think he deserves to be in left field.

There are 31 hitters who have -3.6 WAR or worse and 852 or fewer PA. Most of them are pitchers. I don't know how to sort by rate, but the king might be Pat Rockett, who had -5.5 WAR in 459 PA.

3--The story I have been told and looks to be supported by his playing history is that Molitor was a good defensive player but kept getting hurt playing defense so the Crew finally moved him to DH and his bat exploded and he stayed in the lineup. Don't think playing shortstop would have worked for very long

Years ago, some writer from GQ or Esquire wrote about being bullied mercilessly throughout high school by Steve Kline. This was well before the anti-bullying campaign hit and the article has some funnier moments.

But always made me root against Steve Kline...
