Puerto Rico reaches WBC ‘17 semifinals | MLB.com

“They’re doing a lot of things right right now,” said Team USA manager Jim Leyland after Friday’s game. “They’re a very good team. They play the game right. They play a combination of big ball and small ball, and you tip your hat to them.”

This game's a lot of fun.

Players that have hit 60 HR in a season since 2000:

Barry Bonds
Sammy Sosa
Wlad Balentien

Is this the de facto chatter thread?

I'm enjoying the game a lot. Could really do without the grumpy old white guy commentary on the various baserunning errors, though. I mean: yes they were dumb. Doesn't make the smugness of the commentary any less irritating.

I just now saw the Profar play in the 1st inning...I dunno, if watching any play gives a viewer or broadcaster the right to be smug, that has to be it.

Baez tags everyone. Baez cannot be tagged. Awesome slide.

Another incredible swim slide by Baez. he was out by 10 feet, and just might be ruled safe on replay.

So this is a world without manager challenges. Sheesh!

I'm a fan of replay but dear god just shoot me.

Good to see some judgement exercised on that last review. Pagan's slide was clearly legal by the spirit of the rule, if not by the technical letter of the rule. He simply chose not to hang onto the bag as he slid. Good call.

Oh man, I really really hate this 'start with guys one first and second' thing.

OK, so PR wins. Does the poor slob on the mound who retired the only two batters he faced get the loss?

That was a fantastic baseball game. Obligatory Cubs note: Javier Baez is on fire.

[11] Yup. That's why I didn't like the Jansen move in the 9th. If he doesn't have a lead, you'll need outs in an extra inning and starting in the 11th, run prevention gets a lot harder.

Technicality: He intentionally walked the second batter to load the bases. Plus, he also faced three batters the previous inning (and got them out).
