Q&A: Damon Minor on Giants’ Steven Duggar, Chris Shaw, Aramis Garcia

For the past two seasons — either in Triple-A Sacramento or the Arizona Fall League — Damon Minor has worked with the Giants prospects trio of Steven Duggar, Chris Shaw and Aramis Garcia. In 2018, Minor saw all three of them as the River Cats’ hitting coach before each player made their major league debuts in San Francisco.

NBC Sports Bay Area recently spoke to Minor, as the former Giants first baseman assessed each hitter’s development at the plate.

The sort of analysis one must always take with a grain of salt, especially if what I’ve witnessed is remotely representative….

I remember Damon Minor - massive power but he didn't have the contact skills he needed. I think ye was too tall. He seemed to have a permanent smile or smirk, too.

they ARE twins

and damon had a career slg of .400 which is not exactly what i would call massive power.

they are something like 6-7 or 6-8 which goes to show that size ain't everything

Ryan Minor was also famous for his serious basketball skills. Big 8 Player of the Year in 1994-95.

I remember him because he was supposed to be the heir-apparent to Cal at 3rd Base for the O's.

I was at a game at Pac Ball way back when & either the PA, or perhaps an actual organist, played Fugue in D Minor for his walk up music.

The fans around me bit a puzzled, made me think it was a one-off joke, or did that happen regularly?
